Are we sleeping on this guy?

Granted - before any of you fetid fuckers jump on it, he done crushed a can. But based on more than his Saturday performance, does anybody think we're seeing a decent up-and-comer?

His striking is Ronda-lvl, striking defence below even that, but, given some time, is this a guy to watch or no?

He seems like a raging douchebag

He only has bjj, he will get destroyed by anyone who can stop the takedown. Without that mexican chin™ he'd have probably been ko-d already last saturday.

He needs to be Dillon Danis, and stop trying to be Conor..

So cringe...

In terms of his potential. I think as soon as he fights someone with good stand-up and good tdd he's going to be in a world of trouble...

Unless he moves to a camp that’s really going to push the fundamentals of MMA (like TriStar), he will be a flop. Zahabi can teach him such basic (but vital) tools as wrestling for MMA, using the jab, feints, and strategy.

Keep in mind he did not takedown his last opponent, he pulled guard to set up the submission.

His brief time standing showed him getting clipped a few times so he has a long way to go with his overall mma game. But if they give him easy fights for a year or two he could have ample time to improve.

In his next fight they'll feed him to a way better striker more than likely and he will be demolished. His jiu jitsu is some of the best today but his stand up looked worse than Matt Hamill's.

Reminds me of Aaron Pico, and the way he got started. Hopefully it'll be better but I'm not holding my breath

You could tell he was very chinny. He led with his chin. When they give him a developed fighter, he will be finished.

he looked good, all considered

he looked awesome snatching that leg like that, level of comp means nothing as it was his first fight...

unfortunately when he grabbed the mic, the douche came out

yeah Dillion, it was you that built a card that had Fedor on it lol....

souza and werdum are the only elite bjj players that aren't in super slow motion in striking

I hate anyone who Marcelo thinks is a D-bag, so yeah, fuck that guy. That being said, he's very very legit on the ground...no joke. He COULD sub Ben, no doubt. Funky is a smart guy though, might look like Maia vs the last two wrestlers that fought him...avoiding the ground like the plaque.

Yeah, he's fucking stupid if he thinks he can just skate by with his BJJ, which is very sick, BUT, even guys like Maia, Ryan Hall, etc, have worked a lot on their stand up game...at least understanding it better, developing a style that'll work with there BJJ (all though, I think Maia needs kicks BADLY).

That's not what chinny means lol.
