Im starting a diet this week as i wanna get from 182, to 160 as fast as possible (3-4 months), or at least right around there. Reason being, the weight im gonna fight my first mma fight at will be 155 so i wanna get my weight down there before i start training for my a fight.. Problem is, i dont know much about dieting at all besides the whole "more meals throughout the day, smaller portions" etc. some ideas of good diet food to eat would be good as well because as of right now idk what to eat to maintain a really clean diet besides grilled chicken, fruits, salad, etc.

btw, im 18 in highschool, 6"0' 182 lbs, and my first day back training in 2 months will be tomorrow, but i have been consistently lifting over the last few months

One, cut out processed foods, including cold cereal, pasta, and bread.
Two, cut out sugary foods and drinks, including coffee, cola, etc.
Three, eat mostly vegetables and small amounts (about 5 ounces) of protein. Eat oatmeal, egg whites, yogurt for breakfast. Eat limited amounts of fruit (because of the sugar).
Four, do aerobic exercise, preferably in the morning before breakfast.
Five, snack on carrots, nuts, small amounts of cheese.
Six, drink about 6 to 8 glasses of water a day.
Seven, don't eat anything within three hours of bedtime.

The idea of eating five smaller meals a day instead of three bigger ones depends on actually eating smaller amounts (using small plates is one trick). It can be difficult. Another trick is to make a plate and then divide it into two servings, say one for lunch, the other for dinner.

Apply the discipline you need for fighting to your schoolwork. A fighter needs a good IQ.

harsh haha...but isnt that the guy that helps alot of ufc guys get in the best shape possible pretty much hah? i think i saw him on something with Chael before. sounds like it might be a good idea to listen to him

Read Lyle McDonald's book "A Guide to Flexible Dieting." Mike Dolce sucks, and so does cutting carbs from your diet as an athlete.

None of this is necessary.

I agree with cutting out sugar, processed foods, and a lot of carbs while losing weight (keep in enough carbs to have energy to train) but totally disagree about limiting meat consumption. What is the point of that?

A lot of that advice was good, but overly personalized. You don't need to do exercise in the morning or even eat the specific foods you mentioned. I just think that should be clarified.

I Aldo don't find find a need to have smaller meals. If it fits his life and it's what he wants, then sure, but I know I have never needed it to lose weight.

My advice to lose weight.
Eat carbs before working for energy, otherwise limit them.
Only drink water, cut out milk, ect
Eat a lot of green vegetables. Protein and veggies with every meal.
No processed sugar.
One day a week cheat on your diet, so your body doesn't think it's starving (some might call me out on this) If you are like 99% of people going from crappy food to healthy food, you probably won't start off eating enough. And you don't want to starve and lose strength. A cheat day could very well make you lose weight quicker than not having one.
