I have a serious problem with dieting. When I am starting it's just fine and I am dropping weight but after two three weeks the breakdown starts, I just "can't" help myself in eating things I shouldn't and end upp weighing more than I started.
What seems to be the natural course of action?
I am just stuck. I can't think of anything to do to stop this.

I would say its a personal motivational thing. Though it is hard to keep on a diet strictly. Since I just ate my worse thing in about a month. Damn my roommate bringing me home a chicken burrito from taco bell. But I know that will be the only thing, still regretful though.

Also make sure that you keep NOTHING unhealthy in your house. If it is there you will eat it.

lets have a contest :) ...not a sienfeld type of contest (for those of you who watch the show) I want to drop some holiday weight to get ready for another fucking summer on crutches. And some bike races in april and may before I get on said crutches. We can be accountable to each other. seriously...we can pm each other a few times a week or whatever...

Contests are great ways to avoid cheating. You'll really think twice about fast food if your trying to beat someone in weight lost or muscle gained or whatever.

At the gyn i lift at me and my buddy have had a freindly competiton, we can have body comp evaluations for free so we compare how much fat we lost to muscle gained. He's winning on the BF lost but i've got the lead in lean mass added.

yeah we'd have to come up with something that will be similar...cause I know I can't lose weight like a guy...and I don't have that much...only like 7-8 pounds.....so....it would be fun. When you are accountable it makes a difference sometimes...when you need that little extra kick in the ass.

That sounds very good! I have to loose about 15-20 pounds though but you are right, it is easier if you are accountable to another person!

I would plan a diet that consists of two week blocks. Create an eating plan for 2 weeks, then switch it up. This way you will be dieting consistantly, but since you are changing it every two weeks it doesnt become stale and hard to stick with. Best of luck!

I'm going to Hawaii in the summer so I'm gonna work on dropping some more pounds around the mid section.

In terms of motivation and consistency I think preparation is key. Prepare your meals ahead of time and have a bunch of healthy snacks on hand should you get hungry. I find that I usually cave in and eat fast food when I'm hungry and there's nothing in the kitchen for me.

Most importantly is that when/if you do slip up, just get back on the horse and try to keep on track.

I recently have fallen off my diet completley. I need to get back into the swing of things. Now that I'm not sure if I'm doing Pan Ams, I have no motivation. Let's do a contest!

The thing I think is dangerous is that with my diet (very high protein, almost no carbs and medium fat) I feel like shit every day becouse my body has to adjust to having protein as fuel instead of carbs. That makes me edgy and when I do cheat I can't stop.
And I really want to loose this flabby gut but it is a big problem in the motivation department!

I think this contest thing is a really good way to get in shape!

What helps me stay on the straight and narrow is avoiding feeling too hungry, because once I get hungry I make bad food choices or even binge outright. I find a healthy snack between breakfast and lunch, and between lunch and dinner, is a real key. Make your snacks really healthy, with enough calories that you're only marginally hungry for meal to follow. It may not make sense that snacking (adding more calories) would help you lose weight, but it's so critical in avoiding craving and binging that I think of it as a revelation. A piece of fruit, some cut veggies, some nuts (those are energy dense so go easy), or any combination thereof. Not only helps you control your meals, but provided the snacks are healthy you'll be healthier overall.

I usually feel pretty darn good when I lower the amount of carbs I take in.

Have you tried limiting your carbs to just after your training? Becouse that is what I'm doing right now. It feels just like the only fuel I'm on is the caffein in my veins.

On the snacks, Do you have any tips on a healthy low calorie snack?

Almonds, celery sticks, carrot sticks, cauliflower, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs.

Almonds IN MODERATION, if you go overboard you will feel their wrath

count me in. Idealy, I would like to lose 40lb by April 21st (I want to be a cruiserweight at NAGA), but at least 15lb. I DO NOT want to be a super HW at a lowly 240 flabby lbs. My MAJOR weakness is fast food. I'm like Morgan Spurlock.

It's growing strong :D, nice to see that there is going to be a bunch of people able to motivate eachother!
