Diego Brandao Suspended following UFC 195 for Marijuana

how much will that put him out for anyone know

This isnt really news

All it means is that Nevada have issue a temporary suspension.

He was already suspended by the UFC and has been since January as he was positive in a USADA test.

He was provisionally suspended on 15th January by the UFC/USADA

This is just Nevada catching up two months later :D

And the article is terrible, says he was over WADA's limit of 180ng and Nevadas 150ng. Wada is 150 ng/ml they just have a notification threshold of 180 (in other words, you can go over 150 which is the limit, they just dont do anything till its over 180)

Damn shame. Still ridiculous. Drug testing should be 100% for PED's only.

Why? What about substances that can damage the health of the athlete? What about things that set a bad example?

The WADA code isnt just about PED's, its about athlete health and safety as much as anything

Damn I don't remember seeing that my bad

Kind of an off-topic question...is it OK to test positive for marijuana in an out-of-competition drug test? I remember JBJ was caught with cocaine in his blood but was not punished at all for it.

They need to remove herb from the ban list...

Good. The more druggies that get caught, the better.

He's basically the last one I would suspect of smoking weed. If you see how he comes off, I would've guessed he is a speed user, LOL

Because it's antiquated.
Just like combustion is antiquated.

You're a smart dude.
You contribute a lot to these boards.
& I for one, appreciate your work.

But let's try to not spread rhetoric
about the "unhealthiness" of
marijuana use. There are ways
that you can use and consume it as medicine without damage to
any function or organ of the body.
In fact, pure CBD oil is shown to
reduce inflammation, with no
damage to the lungs & no effect
to your cognition. Same with topical
treatments & some edibles.

The ban is unfounded.
Especially because the commission
is in a medically approved state...

WADA and USADA should have no say in the morality game. Unless it's a PED, they should mind their own business and focus on being able to find designer drugs, loopholes, etc. Many sports (like MMA, football, etc) are damaging to one's health - is USADA and WADA going to ban them?

If an athlete wants to damage himself ooc, and can still compete at the highest levels, that's their perogative.

So sick and tired of everything having to be an extension of the nanny state. As long as people aren't gaining an unfair advantage, let them be.

What's most fucked up about this is that cannabinoid metabolites stay in your bloodstream for up to 3 months while cocaine metabolite only stay for maybe a bit more than 2 days. With that logic, you'd rather do coke and have much less chances of getting busted, if that's your thing.
