except there's always more, a lot more

tbh with you, I watched the speech AFTER reading the fierce responses to it from some conservative folk I follow.

I really expected Michelle to have said a lot worse.

Yeah, I saw it live and it didn’t even register to me as something that might bother people. I remember thinking it was a bit longer winded, that’s about it.

Its sad how precious abortion is in our society. Seriously, just think about all the angles it took to get us there.

Man I love movies and I have no idea who this is. Basically the only reason I even knew this event took place was because of Ricky Gervais. I wouldn’t be surprised if they bring in more anti pc comedians like this to be hosts cause he singlehandedly gave this award show way more eyes than it would have gotten. Funny that after Ricky says don’t do this, they all go ahead and do it anyways....frankly I’m surprised we didn’t get another “fuck Trump” from De Niro

She is one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood. She has been nominated for four Oscars. I think she is actually a pretty rare talent in the industry.

In other words, are you pro-choice?

That's really most of what this comes down to. If you are pro-choice, you don't view the action as "murdering" babies, which seems to be the main criticism of her speech based on the quotes you supplied.

I guess the secondary question is, should people share their opinions on such matters during acceptance speeches?

I personally don't have an issue with people sharing their political opinions on stage. It certainly opens them up to criticism, but that's how free speech works. It's controversial in that people have differing opinions, but that's how free speech is supposed to work.
Some real mental gymnastics to say straight faced that terminating the life of an unborn human being is dissimilar to murdering babies.

Never heard of her, actually imagined she was black for some reason.

Anyway while I am pro-choice I don't like the way some on the left seem to almost venerate abortion. Its a necessary evil, let's not try to turn it into something more than that.

I'm of the belief that abortion should be legal up to a certain point (unless the health of the Mother is in question then I'm ok with any time frame). However I'm morally against it. I'm baffled by anyone that doesn't at least see it as a morally grey area. People that actually celebrate it or brag about it are disgusting, as are people that have multiple one's because they're too lazy, irresponsible, or morally bankrupt to use prevention. It should always be a last ditch effort IMO.

That being said I don't have a problem with what she said. Her telling women how to vote acting like they've never had agency to form their own opinions to me was more offputting.

You don't ever publically announce your abortions. Ever.

"Controversial" means that it gives rise to public disagreement. Factually true that it was controversial. I think it was a good speech.
I definitely agree she should have been aborted

some have even gone as far as to say that this is proof that the Hollywood Elite are satan worshippers and regularly sacrifice children. @TheComebackKid feel free to comment on this btw.

anyway, what are your thoughts?
how did you construe it?

all thoughts welcome.

I don't think this speech is evidence that elites worship the devil. This speech however is evidence that Michelle Williams worships herself and the divine feminine principal. Her agenda, and that of most feminisits, is to condition the masses to also worship the divine feminine principal...which basically means the worship of women.

I feel bad for any young girls that listen to her. A women is at her happiest and most fulfilled in the roll of wife and mother(assuming she has a quality husband she can respect, trust, and follow). Women who pass up kids and marriage for a career are typically miserable by their mid 30s. They cope with cats, wine, pills, and whatever bit of attention they can still get from guys. I believe studies show that women today are more depressed and unhappy than ever.

In regards to the issue of abortion being one big child sacrificing scheme. Who knows. It is true that the founder of Planned Parenthood was an occultist, theosophist, and follower of Helena Blavatsky. Theosophists and occultists worship Lucifer. According to wiki:

In this reference Blavatsky explains that he whom the Christian dogma calls Lucifer was never the representative of the evil in ancient myths but, on the contrary, the light-bringer (which is the literal meaning of the name Lucifer). According to Blavatsky the church turned him into Satan (which means "the opponent") to misrepresent pre-Christian beliefs and fit him into the newly framed Christian dogmas. A similar view is also shared by some Christian Gnostics, ancient and modern.

I can't say that abortion was introduced as a form of child sacrifice ritual but I can say the person who introduced it studied occult rituals and worshiped Lucifer.

I cant read the links until later. Is this the girl from destinys child?

Imagine if she was going to have twins killing two babies instead of won would of got her two awards

So I follow a lot of people on Twitter, many on the far left, and many on the far right, and a lot of people deemed to be "controversial?"

A lot of conservative and right wing leaning folk I do follow have expressed disgust and/or have condemned the speech made by Michelle Williams at the Golden Globes.

Here's the full speech in the first link, and several different links offering their own perspective.

Many have interpreted Michelle Williams's speech as championing women's reproductive rights and the right to "choose."

on the flip side many others have interpreted her speech as, "I won this award because I had an abortion, because I had a right to choose to murder my child."

for example: "Michelle Williams got up on stage while pregnant and bragged about killing her child, then the audience full of rich, drug addled narcissists applauded while crying tears of joy. Hollywood is a cesspool. Gervais was way understating the case."

"Yesterday, Michelle Williams accredited ABORTION for her Golden Globe, and suggested that all women should be in favor of it. As a woman, I am sick of this belief that all women should be okay with murdering their children for personal gain. "

"Michelle Williams wants you believe that you have to kill your children in order to be successful. Well, I have 8 children and have met all of my educational and career goals. To say that we must choose is an insult to the strength of women and motherhood."

some have even gone as far as to say that this is proof that the Hollywood Elite are satan worshippers and regularly sacrifice children. @TheComebackKid feel free to comment on this btw.

She just basically lifted a Joseph Goebbels speech and replaced "jew" with "my unborn baby living inside its mother's belly"

Religious or not, you had a fucking living human with unknown potential and you the mother murdered it. It is sad that in general it is only SOME christians who give a fuck anymore. You got dumb whores championing that shit, bragging about it. No couth at all.

No wonder Weinstein fucked so many of these whores for roles. Shit, fucking a fat ugly dude is nothing compared to killing your own flesh and blood.

"When you put this in someone's hands you're acknowledging the choices they make as an actor. Moment by moment, scene by scene, day by day. But you're also acknowledging the choices they make as a person. The education they pursued, the training they sought, the hours they put in. I'm grateful for the acknowledgement of the choices I've made and I'm also grateful to have lived in a moment in our society where choice exists, because as women and as girls, things can happen to our bodies that are not our choice," Williams began.

"I've tried my very best to live a life of my own making, and not just a series of events that happened to me. But one that I could stand back and look at and recognize my handwriting all over. Sometimes messy and scrawling, sometimes careful and precise. But one that I had carved with my own hand. And I wouldn't have been able to do this without employing a woman's right to choose."

"To choose when to have my children and with whom, when I felt supported and able to balance our lives as all mothers know that the scales must and will tip towards our children. Now I know my choices might look different than yours, but thank God or whoever you pray to that we live in a country founded on the principles that I am free to live by my faith and you are free to live by yours. So, women 18 to 118, when it is time to vote please do so in your self-interest. It's what men have been doing for years, which is why the world looks so much like them but don't forget we are the largest voting body in this country. Let's make it look more like us."

Regardless of what I think about her talking about abortion while being pregnant and receiving an award I have to say I found her speech foolish, confused and full of contractions. She talks about how wonderful it is to live in a society where there's freedom (and she's right!) but then proceeds to claim men are selfish pigs. While I definitely understand her point I don't think she understands that none of her freedom is actually free. It was conquered and it's defended by men, the same men she claims only think about themselves. It's interesting how it's socially accepted to ignore all the good things men have and continue to do while painting them as violent misanthropes.

On a global scale it's right up there.
Really? On a global scale? I would think that it's much more controversial in America than "globally". Globally I have the idea that either it's generally accepted or outlawed depending where you are.

Yeah not really sure what she meant about that part about women voting in their self interest and how men have and that's why the world is the way it is.

If anything women are the most vocal and open about voting solely in their self interest. The only single issue voters that are as vocal as pro-choice voters are gun nuts.
