Did WME fire most of their marketing/advertising team in order to cut costs?

They promote nowhere near as much as the Fertittas did, especially for their “big” cards (UFC 226).

85K PPV buys is the result.

UFC has had questionable promotion forever. I do recall once seeing a huge billboard in NY, but outside of that it's never felt like they invested much (except for the McGregor vs Aldo fight with that idiotic hip hop absurdity of a commercial).

Even so, yeah, they invest less than ever. I remember commercials such as GSP vs Shields (the Rocky 3 spoof) and Chuck vs. Anyone. Nowadays I can't really recall any.

i remember when ufc200 was around the corner... I saw international fight week promos everywhere... then nearly went blind from the yellow mat at ufc 200...

They fired a ton of UFC production and marketing staff, brought in a few of their own but they weren't able to cover the losses. Their resources are more limited than before and that's why they have to pick their battles and focus on the real mega events that attract the casuals, not hardcores. (i.e. not 226 but Conor's return)

we got spoiled during that conor and that other guy ( aldo) world tour lol...

I've definitely noticed that I don't see billboards or ads on cabs for UFC anymore. And I live in Vegas

That other guy is a top 5 GOAT who went 10 years undefeated with 18 straight wins and 9 title defenses.

Conor is fraud who retired from MMA without a single title defense while being stripped 2X.

He made UFC more money than the rest of the roster combined in 2016. He can do whatever the fook he wants.

UFC always had bad promotion. It even worse now but its mostly because of the injuries. It costs lots of money to hire the camera men only for fighters to be injured last minute or miss weight

USADA conned UFC

Doesn't change a thing. Keep holding bitterness.

Not to mention, how much money someone makes the UFC has nothing to do with their accomplishments. Aldo dominated FW for years and fought/beat guys like Edgar who Conor wanted no part of. If Conor could still make FW, i doubt he would want anything to do with current Holloway either. He doesn't want anything to do with any if the real top guys at LW obviously either.

How much money someone makes a business has everything to do with how the business treats that person. If a car salesman sold more cars in one year than 400 other salesmen combined he has absolutely earned the right to take months or years off while still holding whatever position he wants in the company. Normal rules and regulations do not apply to him. If you ran a company of 500 employees and one guy makes you more money than the 499 others combined are you going to force him to follow the same rules as the 499 others? Stop kidding yourself.

gsp made ufc a lot of money and dana still shits on him when the red goofs having a bad day...

but i thinks its more to push gsp into fighting more fights... you know how danas words are lol..

It all went downhill when they fired Hughes and Chuck

all I know is we are a week away from 226 and Road To the Octagon isn't out. There isn't any sort of build up aside from random shit interviews on UFC tonight etc.
