After I saw their first fight I was like what an epic throw down. But after Silva dispatched both of them in the first round, I look at it now as a non-technical fight between 2 guys with pillow fists LOL

But hey I still have mad respect for both fighters, both were fearless and would bang with anybody

Not really. Even at the time almost everyone realized that they weren't exactly the pinnacle of the sport. It's still crazy to me that Forrest was able to win a belt.

I really thought Franklin-Griffin would be like Bonnar-Griffin with Ace knocking Forrest out.

Never knew that Griffin vs Boner had any luster to begin with. Decent comedic value tho

Stop being a bunch of haters. Forrest-Bonnar was epic at the time. Let those guys have their moment.

It was more about the heart than seeing literally the two best. You can criticize the technique, but it showcased another amazing aspect of the sport really well

Well it got a lot of credit for turning casual MMA fans into diehard MMA fans. Us diehard fans knew both of them were overachievers

Nah, Bonnar Griffin wasn't great because it was the two best, most technical fighters, it was great because it was chaotic.

yeah that was sad to see IMO. It may be kind of unfair, but I view Forrest as probably the worst fighter to win a strap in the modern era in a mature weight class, and even though Rich ain't Anderson, he was still iconic for me and a real quality fighter.

By today's standards, it wasn't even a great fight, let alone being technical in the least.

Actually, let me say it's been a long time, I don't remember it very well, but I remember very few clean, actually damaging strikes and no knockdowns at all. Am I way off here? If so, my bad

I just find it funny that they both got decimated by Silva. Haaa

Too bad Bonnar is Silva's last win.:(

They don't have pillow fists. They're 220+ lb professional fighters. They have more than enough power to stop anyone.
