    BJ Penn:
    • Enters his first prime at UFC 37 and goes UNDEFEATED for 7 fights.
    • Loses to Machida, GSP, and Hughes from injurys and lack of motivation.
    • Wins next 6 fights in 2nd prime until Frankie Edgar. (GSP II doesnt count because of greasing.
    BJ Penn Prime record: 12-0-1

    Cain:
    • Undefeated first 9 fights.
    • Loses to JDS in flash knock out in injury comeback. (Not prime)
    • Wins next 4 fights
    • Falls out of prime against Werdum and Nagannou because of injuries.
    Cain Prime record: 13-0

War two of the most underrated fighters in UFC history.

Depends if one's motivated, or is injured?

I love Cain, but the original post is stupid. Losses count. Prime Cain lost to JDS. That's real. Prime BJ lost alot, including getting wasted by GSP. I don't understand this concept of ignoring losses by trying to explain them away and saying they don't count.

Seeing as you seemingly define their prime as when they're winning fights, noone has ever lost in their prime.

BJ could very well be in his prime still.
He just hasn't been motivated this decade.

    Summary....

You're only in your prime if you're winning. The moment you lose...you're over the hill.

Basically this. BJ fans always find an excuse one way or the other.

I'm more interested in 10 years from now when BJ fans can apply their delusions to what i can only hope will be a protracted history of BJ getting lei'd out by bums in front of a host of different Hawaiian hotspots.
