Similar to lesnar v mir 1, sapp was destroying and toying with nog until the hail mary submission happened. If you watch the fight objectively it is clear that big nog got lucky and that if they fougfht 10 times sapp would win 9 out of 10.

The only luck in that fight is that he didn't break his neck when he got spiked. Nog is known for his ability to take punishment then sub the guy.

You got a point. The so called "Hail Mary" subs are usually mistakes on the opponent's side. And capitalizing on your opponent's mistakes is the bread and butter of BJJ and submission grappling as a whole.
