In that ESPN interview? Diaz bros are my fave fighters, but I came away from that interview scratching my head. From what I had gathered, when Nick was on suspension, it seemed like he was chomping at the bit to get back in the cage and make that money. Then, the day his suspension is up, he gets handed a golden opportunity on NATIONAL TV to call out any fighter out there and set the stage for a huge fight. But instead it seemed like he really didn't even CARE about fighting anyone? Like no one interested him? Did I miss something here? Or did Nick drop the ball majorly in this one? Has anyone heard anything from him since?
He is very conflicted about it. I think there are things he likes, and things he doesnt. In the end, he isnt even sure about what to do himself. I think he is afraid to commit because of that. So he holds back in saying things a lot and having to go through with it...
No He's not desperate about fighting anyone, it seems he's ok moneywise and is not fighting anyone unless a big fight come up. Does he deserves one? No, but since he's not holding the division hostage I see no problem on him wanting that
Diaz does what he feels like,he dont play the game. He'll make a fight with stipe somehow from backstage at a bootleg ammy event in stockton
this is the same guy who admitted to the world that he never did his taxes in his life...i'm not shocked by this strange interview.
That interview would have gone a lot different had Tyron Woodly not called him out. I'm willing to go as far as to say that he would have a fight booked right now had it not been for Tyron Woodleys senseless call out.
Here's the full 16 min interview, he sounds content if he never fights again "I don't need this interview, I don't need this sport" "Fighting isn't my passion, women are my passion"
I think if he wants to try and make some good cash in the UFC's WW division he should angle for that Robbie Lawler fight. There is a good chance that fight goes the way of most of Robbie's recent fights and be a war and FOTY candidate and if Nick can win it he could jump to the front of the pack for a WW shot. If GSP comes back and takes the belt from Woodley then that's a payday well worth Nick's time.
I think that often Nick just coasts through life and makes decisions only when he has to, and lets things work themselves out. In his interviews, I get the feeling that he actually hasn't thought of many of these questions, and tries to go through it on the spot, with little to no success. If he just said, "Pssh. Shit. I don't know. Maybe, we'll see." people really wouldn't be too interested in what he has to say anymore. Instead, he just spouts all kinds of shit, and hilarity ensues, usually followed by more hilarity and a paycheck. He's like "The Dude" of MMA, and people just keep pissing on his fucking rug.
