With 42 seconds left in the first round, Melendez grabbed Henderson's leg and tripped him to the ground and it look to me as if Melendez tried to throw a knee to the head while Henderson was still on the ground. Did anyone else see that?

He actually threw 2 illegal knees at Benson in the first round.

Not that it's important since they it didn't land, but I don't think he meant to anway.

He threw his knee at a target about 18 inches above the floor. And it was only 1.

the knee he threw that i can remember, was to the body of Benson, which is perfectly legal, it can appear confusing in the heat of fight though, just like Andersons knee to Sonnen, looked illegal initially, but it was the perfect strike when seen again

Just watched the fight. Benson won a close decision, deal with it

yeah i saw that but i think he pulled em and they didnt do much damage more of a glancing knee and benson was moving so i dont think it was meant for the head

and no mention of Ben's three elbows after the bell? a point could be argued that there should have been a deduction for that, since it was more than one shot...and Big John had to grab him to stop him

I first thought it looked illegal, but I think he was targeting the body, maybe the shoulder iirc, either way, Benson didn't react at all so he must not have felt like he got fouled. It also had no effect on he outcome of the fight so maybe they should let it slide this once.
Lets focus on the judge that is a Gracie affiliate instead, that is way more problematic.
