It seems like Dana (or whoever handles it at WME) may have gotten a taste of that mainstream superfight attention and money, because he's been trying to book mismatch superfights ever since. GSP/Bisping, Cyborg/Nunes, Cormer/Stipe etc.

Can't be a coincidence IMHO.

It does look like his brain temperature is too high

Yeah, everybody likes money. I don’t believe Stipe vs DC fights the bill of a mismatch unless at 205....not happening

As if "superfights" were a new thing. And Conor-Mayweather aren't really comparable to GSP-Bisping, Cyborg-Nunes and the likes.

Depends on your definition of "superfight", obviously. Conor-Mayweather was an actual "superfight", imo. Had cross over appeal and gained attention from people not even interested in mma. Or boxing for that matter.

They always try to set up fights that will draw the most money. Very rarely, even historically, has this not been the case.

no

the ufc being lost gave them it

Has a lot to do with the fact the Fox deal is up for renegotiation. Obviously this fight will be a PPV but will create buzz for the UFC which will only help with t.v. deal negotiations.

It made him realize that the UFC is still the little leagues compared to boxing. They also need to start thinking about paying their fighters more if they want to take it to the next level.

Remember when Dana offered Floyd $20 million to fight Conor and half of sherdog were saying it was a great offer and that Floyd was stupid for turning it down?

Conor vs GSP will be the superfight of 2018.

It's no coincidence that GSP relinquished his belt.

It's also the reason why Dana still considers Conor a champ without being the champ.

SPOLER: Conor will lose, and then he will fight Khabib for the LW strap.

And after that loss he will fight Nate and retire with extra 50-60 mill on top of that 100.

I think it just has to do with basic strategy. There are no real contenders at 205 or 265. Plus, Daniel is the rare type of fighter who wants to move up and test himself. Makes sense to have the two champs fight. Similar with 135/125, although 135 has more contenders.

I think it may be the money he makes from them. Hey, call me crazy, but that’s probably it.

Dana looks really unhealthy. He should go on a vegan diet....

Not quite. They need to draw money over the long-term. The danger of superfights is that they hurt the drawing power of the losing fighter.

No, 2017's Ppv #'s did.

It's incredible that Dana thought he could treat an international superstar like one his bitches. Probably still salty about carrying Floyds luggage.
