Sadly i wasn't an MMa fan back when Conor was making his run at the FW title.
I watched his fight with Aldo but didnt really follow the behind the scenes stuff and all of the drama outside of the cage.

But I ve been catching up and reading about that era of MMA history.

And one of the claims that I've read about a few times is that Conor actively ducked Frankie Edgar.

How true is this and whats the evidence for it?

I find it hard to believe seeing as Conor beat Aldo who conquered Frankie twice.
And Frankie had a good style for conor to beat (short wrestler with average striking).

Yeah and UFC did their best to get him the easiest matchups

He shouldve fought the winner of Lamas Bermudez for the next shot

instead he fought......... Denis Siver <36>

He went on to bigger things.
RDA was bigger and better than Edgar he was also the fight with more reward so he wasn’t really ducking.

I do think Edgar would’ve beat him at the time but you can’t claim he was ducking

Aldo beating Edgar has nothing to do with Conor.

Aldo has maybe the best TDD of all time.

    Conor would probably get wrestlefucked.

Top 15 at fw was loaded with tough grapplers at that time and conor dodged all of them up until he got the interim title fight against Mendes, which only happened because Aldo pulled out.

I don't know if it was intentional on Conor's part, but there was too much coincidence for it not to be intentional on someone's part.

Conor was a healthy champ who actively refused to defend his title against Frankie or rematch Aldo, the two clear top contenders. Instead of doing his job as a champion, he held the FW belt hostage while whining for a rematch with Nate Diaz in another division. This was after it was clear that he wasn't fighting RDA. They had to make an interim belt for Conor WHILE He was healthy and active simply because he was ducking his responsibility as a champ in order to avenge his loss to Diaz.

He clearly wasn't fighting RDA after Diaz finished him. That's when he should have gone down and fought Frankie or rematched Aldo. But no, he cried for a rematch against nate, held the FW belt hostage, had an interim made at FW, while he got his rematch against nate.

He clearly ducked his responsibility as a champion.

I'd say that you couldnt put that on him. He won the FW title and they gave him a shot at the LW one. Of course you have to take it.

The reason he didnt want to defend his FW title is because he didnt want to cut weight anymore. He tried to even get out of cutting to LW whenever he could.

So I say no,you cant put that on him, threat he may have been

"The big surprise was in PPV, as preliminary indications are about 375,000 buys, which is way above predictions. Keep in mind, numbers this early in the game can be off by a significant amount. The last time Edgar main evented, they did 225,000 buys."

Conor KO'ed Aldo and never fought at that weight again. I hate the term ducking because they don't really make the fights the bosses do but Conor didn't have a rematch with a long reigning title holder or the next guy in line, it hurts his legacy tremendously.
