Did Conor just have really bad cardio? Why could he only last one round??

I have to wonder if Conor didn't do enough Cardio work. We see fighters all of the time go 3-5 rounds moving a lot, and taking good shots throughout the fight. Robbie Lawler does it all of the time. So why did Conor only make it one round before he "ran out of energy"?

I will admit that I figured most of the fight would look like that first round and Conor would end up winning in some fashion. But he takes some nice shots and completely loses steam. So you have to either question his heart, chin, cardio or combination of the three.

The Diaz style of punches in bunches take their toll gradually.

he started to believe the "no one can take that left hand" "death touch" hype and just spammed bombs over and over

non-stop overhand lefts in round 1 + getting his shit exploded in the standup in the 2nd half of round 2

I think he folded more mentally than actual fatigue.

The look on his face begin to change with each exchange.

He was expecting to murk Nate with power, and Nate just walked right through his best shots.

It deflated him.

he put too much energy and power in to his shot instead of just letting his hands flow fluidly

he tried to hard to knock out a guy with an iron chin instead of picking him apart, movement, and body shots

Get punched in the face repeatedly and seeing that your hard punches are not slowing down your opponent.

A lot of things coming together. Not just his pure "gas tank"

Wasn´t the cardio.... was Nate punches in the face that made Cloner lost.

He got hit with a lot of Diaz shots and seemed to throw a lot high-energy techniques such as overhand lefts and wheel kicks which drained him quickly. Plus, he's a fighter who expects to break you in the early goings of a fight. Credit to Diaz's chin and boxing acumen to survive and put it on Conor in the second after catching him with a perfect left.

Where did this come from that McGregor got tired? As far as I can tell he looked fresh in round 2 until Diaz started tagging him repeatedly in the classical Diaz way. Then he took one punch too many and got wobbled badly. Even so, his punches still came out quickly when he tried to retaliate, only his sense of distance was completely off. McGregor didnt gas, his brain just got rumbled.

It was a number of things.

Conor threw nothing but power shots the WHOLE time. Diaz brothers have incredible cardio and durability, so Nate just absorbed his power shots while throwing his own with less pop but enough to negatively impact Conors already fading gas tank. After the first, Nate picked up the pace and started to really push forward and landed a good shot which visibly hurt McGregor and probably zapped him of whatever was left from the first.

In sum: Conor fought Nates fight.

I realize that Conor threw a lot of heat in the first round. But why should that gas such a high level fighter?

Cruz for instance moves constantly through five rounds throwing shots and taking shots. It's just weird that Conor is done after 1 round.

Yeah... I was shocked at how hard the guy was breathing at the end of round 1.

And he showed fantastic cardio for three rounds, both standing and on the ground. against Holloway.

So, yeah, I am baffled.

He was fine until that punch to the dome, Joe Rogan comments on it

And his corner-man threatened to go public to ESPN if he would not sign memorabilia for him.

His body was not accustomed to carrying that much weight.

There's a reason even high level boxers take catch weight fights even against lesser fighters to get their body used to carrying more mass. And boxing divisions are separated by 7 lbs give or take.

conor weighed 145 last time and rehydrated to a much higher weight but he wasnt carrying too much muscle mass. This fight he weighed in at 168 lbs. Thats 23 fucking lbs. He was carrying extra muscle that his body was not used to carrying in a real fight.

He lost because he was white.

It's a problem we have, coming up a few inches short so we have to work harder, never hitting the chin-spot and blow load really fast. Ain't no round 2, it's sleep time! You wanna go night night Nick*?!

(Nate* but Hart says Nick sounds better )

If it wasn't for the cardio he would've easily won the decision 50-45.

Because he's wasting his time doing this yuppie/soccer mom "movement" movement instead of tried and true movement like moving his ass down a track 10 miles a day.
