Did Cain buy too much into the Werdum hype?

PSA: Cain won round 1.

He didn't buy into any hype. No point in going to the ground with a top 3 bjj in the ufc guy.

Did you forget the other 2 times he almost guillotined Cain? Werdum has a feared ground game for a reason.

Hunt was able to not get subbed against Werdum. I think Cain should try to do some GnP like he did in the Rothwell fight, but not in the guard.

BJJ world-champ, UFC HW champ, could very easily argue most accomplished ground game in HW history of the sport, submitted the opponent we are discussing seconds after the fight hit the floor last fight = "hype" ??

The most valid example of psychological hype-out when it comes to Werdum is NOT Cain vs Werdum with Cain getting psyched out... it is EASILY Werdum vs Overeem 2 with Werdum getting psyched out into dropping to his back LITERALLY mid-combination as it is doing damage.

He did much like Rory did against Lawler in the second fight by being a bit busier but getting beat up more and taking the harder shots.

Cain's never had to deal with someone with a good guard let alone an elite one of Werdum's caliber.

He KO'd Nog, JDS' prefers to scramble, and Bigfoot is much more of a top player. Cain's passes are mostly relied on being set up by gnp. Werdum has the ability to tie him up and neutralize that while also having a looming threat of a sweep or submission.
