Hey Guys,

I am not a fighter and have never practiced any martial arts. I am not sure how a brutal knock down can affect your performance through out the fight.

However, I believe that when Barao got clipped and knocked down on the first round, he was never able to fully recover.

I am not saying TJ did not deserve to win. Of course he deserved, he worked hard for that and dominated. But I think Barao was not himself for the remainder of the fight (thanks to TJ).

Has anyone with fighting experience experienced something like that? Not able to recover after being tagged brutally?

The same thing happened when Jones hit Shogun with that flying knee.

Yeah, Maybe, but Jones is so much better overall than Shogun that I do not think it mattered in the end, because there was no way shogun would win that fight

People said that about JDS/Cain II

Then Cain did it again with the knockdown coming later

Don't forget, TJ was controlling that fight before the knockdown and Barao was still moving well and throwing hard for the rest of the first and second rounds.

TJ won the fight because of his head movement in general. The guy was doing matrix moves

Yes but i wouldn't be suprised if the same thing happened again in a rematch.

After the fight, he was doing moves with Rogan like in Keanu did in one of his other films, My Own Private Idaho.

He looked scared once he saw the blood on his face. I think I literally saw fear in his eyes.

Nope. TJ was catching him even before that point. I remember a nice uppercut even before that. I think it's a stylistic nightmare for Barao and would go the same if they fight again.

Barao was struggling during the second round but was very competitive, it seems around the late 3rd round he suddenly realized he hasn't trained or was never accustomed to a situation like this and it drained his motivation significantly. His corner weren't offering any helpful advice either, 5th round he wasn't even trying to throw the kitchen sink at TJ after losing 4 rounds in a row. The difference with the JDS/Cain II III is that JDS was getting a beat down from beginning to the end, Barao survived an early onslaught, reluctantly stayed and trade with TJ for the rest 3 and a half rounds before getting finished.

TJ was just the better fighter of the night and the better fighter that grow stronger. Barao is the same as always.

Like Frieza, same power level as always, while the saiyan are growing stronger after every battle they fight.

TJ is just like a saiyan, and he just turn super saiyan mode on Frieza who was Barao.

Same with Weidman aka Goku, he just go super saiyan mode and Silva aka Frieza has no chance after that even Frieza going 100%, he's still no match.
100% serious Silva in the rematch still stand no chance against Weidman.

Lack of heart.

Lack of heart.

Indeed. I didn't see the heart of a champion showcased in Silva-Sonnen or Lesnar-Carwin where a fighter says "you've thrown everything at me and I'm still here". Barao seemed to me like he was embarrassed to be there.

I think so, very JDS-esque performance, reminded me way too much of JDS's 2nd fight with Cain.

i think it was just not barao's night.
