Did anyone expect Gunnar to be able to hang with Tumenov on the feet?

Not suprised. It's not like Gunni is bad on the feet.

Is normal he was flustered by the neostriking

Well his 2 losses are both to grapplers. A grindey wrestler and a superior BJJ guy

Jack Slack pointed out that Gunnar's distance-heavy, in-and-out approach was something Tumenov seems to have had trouble with in the past -- and that the guy didn't seem to have much experience in handling it.

Gunnar's always been sound on the feet offensively, it's his footwork and headmovement that has caused him issues in the past.

I thought he was gonna get kod

he was going to get ko'd

gunnar did well but the threat of takedowns are what allowed him to be competitive. he got tagged. he was slowing down at the end of round 1 and was getting hit. he came out in round 2 after the rest and looked better. got another takedown. checkmate

if they were just striking i would have gunnar as a 4-1 dog based on what i just saw

he also gets tired and just kind of forgets what hes doing. you see his face appear to go blank and he just seems to be lost (in the past) and stands directly in front of his opponent while eating shots. then he temporarily snaps out of it after he pays the price, and then repeats

gunnar has talent and potential but as he moves up the ranks hes going to need to keep his cardio on point and sharpen his fight iq substantially

This is what happens when you train with the greatest striker in UFC history

Who the hell is tumenov and people are acting like gunnar has just beat gsp

His arched-back posture worries me more than anything. Looks like he has Scoliosis or something.

He lost to Main last time ergo shit fighter and will get destroyed by anyone, Sherdog logic.

WD Gunni.

Gunnar has some decent pop in his hands and tricky karate style where punches come from odd angles and he darts in and out. That can give a lot of guys trouble, especially a boxer like Tumenov. I felt like Tumenov had to fight a perfect fight or else he'd lose, because Gunnar is a great opportunist.

Fight IQ comes with experience.

I'm not trying to be funny and I know it's eye-rolling stuff when Conor gets brought up in almost every thread on here but I genuinely saw quite a bit of McGregor's style in Gunnar tonight. And he looked all the better for it.

I waz more stoked watching this fight than any other on the card. Glad to see Gunnar back in championship form.

Though excellent... there were some holez in the standup... but it waz the threat of takedown that allowed him to get away with it.

Those holes could of been to bait the take down trap. Wonder how he got those takedownz so easy?
