Did anyone else think DC was a spectacle at first?

I remember when he was in the strike force HW tournament and he was the least known name. I watched his first fight and all they talked about was that he was a former Olympian. I figured they were just hyping I'm like they do sometimes and figured eventually his luck would end. Crazy looking back on it now.

When he beat Jeff Monson, i knew right away he'd be a force in the HW division.

Did i thought he could beat Bigfoot after that Fedor mauling? Fuck no.

Well there was so many names in there, youd be forgiven if youd missed him. When he ktfo bigfoot that sure changed my mind. It was weird cos he looked really slow and predictable, but he still made bigface look like shit. The barnett fight was a whole different story though.

Spectacle may be a bit strong. He wasn't expected to be a factor in that Strikeforce tournament. Of course most of us didn't know anything about him. He was in it to fill the damn thing out. To his credit he went in there and did what he had to do. From that it got him in the UFC and we know the rest. Had he lost that first fight in the tournament he likely would not have been heard from.

When he destroyed big foot thats when I I knew he was the real deal

nah.

Even when he was a little shaky in his first couple fights, I still had pretty high expectations for him.

No, he came into the sport late but he an outstanding wrestler obviously and a major prospect even then.

A fight with pre-illness Lesnar would have been fun.

Nah.

The Monson win showed DC was legit, the Bigfoot fight confirmed it and the Barnett fight just put a stamp on it.

He was already the wrestling coach of AKA before fighting in Strikeforce so I knew he was legit.

I watch Daniel Cormier from 2011 during his fight with Josh Barnett and Silva was really impressive, it worked just fine hooks to the chin toward significantly higher fighters . But my personal uprights to his best fight was against Jones Jones 3 First Round was fantastic both showed high technique not getting their second fight it was something perfect, as Shogun and Machida 1 fight

Expected big things from him as soon as he entered mma. He was a bigger, stronger, faster, worlds better wrestling and much cleaner technical striking version of Fedor. Also has much better fight intelligence.

Would have been nice to see how that GP would have panned out without Overeem getting injured.

DC doesnt anywhere near the credit he deserves. He could take out pretty much anyone.

Well, he was nicknamed black fedor. They don't just give that name out for nothing...unless you're cormier's teammate, the Mexican fedor.

not at all. when he entered the gp I thought he had a good chance, dude is a beast. especially then he was in his prime.

Wen he fought Bigfoot and Barnett, and he was a pure boxer and wrestler he was one of the 3 nastiest dudes on the planet. For some reason everybody thinks they need to do muay thai. You don't. Stop it, DC. Go back to the nasty hands and killer instinct you had. That version of DC could beat Jones.
