using the latest consensus rankings(november) How do their top 5 victories stack up? http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2012/11/...er-2012-meta-rankings-welterweight/in/3463459 GSP 1. Carlos Condit......#3 ranked 2. Jon Fitch...... #6 ranked 3. Josh Koscheck........ #7 ranked(though he beat him twice I'll only count it once) 4. B.J. Penn....... #16 ranked(again beat twice) 5. Thiago Alves...... #28 ranked Nick Diaz 1. B.J. Penn 2. No other top 30 wins to report........ his only other fights against people in the top 30 currently are a decision loss to Condit(#3) and a decision loss to Sanchez(#13) and BJ obviously isn't even a real WW how about common opponents? obviously BJ - both won. GSP via decision and then corner stoppage. Diaz decision Sean Sherk - GSP wins 2nd round TKO stoppage....... Diaz loses decision Karo Parysan - GSP wins decision........ Diaz loses decision Carlos Condit - GSP wins decision.......... Diaz loses decision can someone remind me again why Diaz deserves a title shot?
because it gives GSP a chance to go up against a good boxer and get his confidence up before he goes up against hendricks and anderson.
well if you knew anything about nick diaz he didn't reach his full potential until mid into his career at strike force. all i gotta say is keep doubting nick.
that gif is so heavily edited you can't tell what's going on. diaz looked really good against sherk considering how old he was at the time. not a dominant performance by sherk at all.
Diaz lost 3 rounds easily and a 4th is debatable there's onyl 1 round in that fight that he definitely won
do you see paul daley's name anywhere in the top 30? no? didn't think so maybe he WAS a top fighter before but he's not now
Funny thread coming from a GSP fan. How about we look at it this way, how do they compare when moving up in weight to face fighters from a different weight class? Diaz 2-0 GSP 0 Also, Daley was top 10, and Zaromskis was top 10 on a lot of sites when Diaz fought him. People were calling Zaromskis the second coming of Cro Cop, and he was riding a nice win streak coming into the Diaz fight, including his tournament win. People discredit this win because Zaromskis hasn't done fantastic since then, but a loss can do a lot to a fighter. Since the fight with Frank Shamrock, Diaz hasn't had a single easy fight. Just because fighters aren't currently ranked doesn't make them cans. Especially considering that most of his fights happened outside of the UFC, and the UFC always received favourable MMA rankings.
Funny 'cause Diaz outstruck Sherk in every round and landed like 40-50 more overall. Landed more significant strikes, and swept Sherk 2-3 times and stuffed 15+ TD's. You can argue Nick won that fight against Sherk. Sorry.
BJ Penn, Cyborg, Scott Smith... In what universe would Cyborg beat Alves, Fitch, Koscheck, etc. same with Smith and as for BJ in his last two fights he's been a punching bag.
