Where do the two fit in the division? Seems like you can't become a champ unless you have some strong wrestling or at least strong TDD. Thoughts?

Condit - Still a top competitor at WW, he tests people's cardio and heart everytime he fights, finishes fights too, maybe have him fight Nate the great.

Diaz - not really sure, maybe have him fight Koscheck like Josh wanted in the first place.

I think Carlos should train with Aldo to learn about how he is incredible at TDD while still being a ferocious striker.

What you said about the wrestling is true in the WW division. Too many elite grapplers and wrestlers at the top. Unfortunately Condit and Diaz will probably serve out the rest of their careers as gatekeepers. Condit might get another shot at the title, not any time soon tho. Diaz will probably get all worked up on another one of his paranoid delusions and leave the UFC after his next fight.

They are both 2/3 wins away from being in title contention. Both of their careers can play out a number of ways...

Their role? Condenter killers, like Kos and Fitch.

I hate fighters "BJ Penning" themselves. Once a serious flaw continuously gets exploited it seems like a lot of fighters have a hard time adjusting. Scrap the playbook and rebuild...

Their roles are most likely going to be high level gatekeepers, if you beat them you are ready for a title shot/no1 contender.

I hope they match Diaz up with Lawler and Kampmann. I don't know if Nick has the mindset or determination to climb back to a title shot.
Condit vs Maia would kick ass, but I think Condit knocks him out of contenders row.

I'm glad you chose the expression "BJ Penning themselves" instead of the much worse "BJing themselves".

I don't think its a lack of wanting to change on Condit's part, he just kept throwing those blood flying knees and getting taken down, he showed he could get up and was attacking pretty well from his back while Johnny was content to do nothing with his takedowns.

Diaz on the other hand, who knows what goes through his head...dude is a bag of cats.

Condit nearly finished GSP with that headkick. As soon as he improves his TDD he has a serious shot at the belt imo.

GSP was winning the striking war as well.

One headkick means nothing. GSP's recovery from it means a lot though.

The 2nd and 3rd best WWs.

Really? Nick Diaz? His best win was an out of shape BJ Penn, he hasn't had a finish in almost three years, last two fights he not only barely did anything, he made it perfectly obvious he had no place in the cage with a fighter on GSP's caliber, much less in the same promotion as him.

That's exactly why Diaz gave Condit a run for his money, because he doesn't belong with the same caliber as GSP. Obviously.... yet Condit nearly knocked out GSP and had a close fight with Diaz. But you know best Diaz doesn't belong because you say so... LOL

Condit showed people that with a bit of thought of planning, you can almost shut Diaz down completely. GSP proved it to be a fact.

Diaz loses one or two more and hangs his gloves.

Condit learns not to throw flying knees against the fence when fighting wrestlers and will be back to contention.

Condit will be floating around the top 5 for a while yet, and will likely have another title shot within 2 years, especially if GSP is knocked off.

Diaz will probably be exiting the top 10 with much haste if he keeps fighting (and with slightly more haste if he really retires). I don't think anybody at the top is stupid enough to stand flatfooted and trade with him and he has shown he has a serious deficiency vs people who won't give him that.

I think Condit's role will be more significant than Diaz's-he was competitive in his last two losses and Diaz had nothing to offer GSP in addition to his obvious head issues.

It's a shame that Condit is on a two fight losing streak given how gifted he is as a fighter, but I see him as someone intelligent and dedicated enough to analyze and improve his weaknesses and I expect him to be around for a while and pick up some good wins before it's all said and done, and he may yet earn another title shot. Diaz I think has seen his last sniff of the title and will remain the same fighter he is today-talented enough to pick off fringe contenders but too incomplete and unfocused a fighter to wear the strap.
