hi guys

first of all thanks for your insights on half guard like crossface prevention and stuff. i have been starting to work on my half guard game recently and i am now more comfortable playing my bottom game more than ever. i still need to work on it but im making good progress so far for starters. :D

my question now is, if he keeps his leg close to his butt instead of spreading out when i go for deep half guard, this is the cue for old school sweep. on weak, light guys i seem to hit this alot, but against heavier, stronger guys, i seem to be doing the sweep wrong with lots of frustration. the guy usually has his arm posted, but i have a good hold on his foot. i have difficulty going to my knees to complete the sweep. what details am i missing for anyone who has encountered the same problem?

If you are in deep half guard holding his left foot with your left hand (you are on your right side) you need to extend his right leg with your left foot. If you can get his right leg straightened out you should be able to hit the sweep against much larger opponents.
