Just curious. Cops seem to look for stupid reasons to pull people over around those hours. I can only assume it's because they're looking for the drunks driving home from the bars.

Yeah, I can't stand that ish. A couple of times I've been pulled over by cops who clearly figured they'd catch someone drunk or with drugs, only for them to find nothing and then ticket me for some stupid shit like switching lanes without a signal.

Not even turning without a signal ... but switching lanes without a signal. Which is why now I'm like the only damn driver I ever see use a turn signal just to switch lanes.

Really? They gave you a ticket for that crap? Sounds like a dick move. I've been pulled over for some stupid crap like that a couple times, but I never got a ticket. Once they realized I wasn't drunk, they cut me loose.

I wonder why they would give you a ticket. I assume you didn't give them attitude or anything?

I never give cops attitude. Always respectful. Consent to car searches even when I feel they don't have reasonable suspicion, always address them as sir / ma'am. Even if they're giving me attitude. Even after the ticket is written I stay respectful. I'm not trying to get thrown in jail on some bullshit charge because some cop didn't like how I talked to him/her.

But I've gotten at least one ticket for switching lanes without a signal, and I think just one for an admittedly borderline Hollywood Stop (but no worse than borderline and most stops at signs I see even with cops around are way worse).

It's not always the case tho. I've gotten warnings a couple times for equally minor shit (like once I got pulled over for turning without a signal - but I had used my signal, just the light was out without me realizing it, so when I showed the cop he just told me to fix it and let me go)
 
Is a traffic stop actually being detained? I guess you're not free to go, so maybe it is? It's a lame kind of detention. Detainment?

I guess I got pulled over for a random breath test. Don't remember the last time it happened. 4 - 5 years ago, maybe? Shoulda slapped them with a lawshuit.
 
I had two cops from BOPE (brazilian police) pull guns on me when I was walking through a rough neighborhood at night. I started yelling "I'm a gringo, I'm a gringo" with my hands up. Turns out they were looking for a robber. Didn't give me any shit and said I should watch out if I was walking at night there.

I'm white, wear baggy clothing, quite heavily tattooed (hands, arms, head etc) and I never get trouble from cops. Why not? I don't do anything illegal so I don't get problems from that, and when I get questioned I always behave and remain polite.
 
Cop: "We received a call about armed men setting off explosives..."

Us: "Yeah, we're shooting tannerite."

Cop: "What's tannerite?"

*cop watches us shoot a two-pound cannister*

Cop: "Wow! Where can I get some?"

I got a speeding ticket about a year ago. I was going 87 in a 70 on I-20. He was nice, just told me I needed to slow it down. $144.00 if I remember correctly.

Was driving in the carpool lane behind a cop. My brother was in the passenger seat, but the seat was back because he was trying to take a quick nap.

Cop slows down and pulls over allowing me to pass, then pulls me over.

When he gets to the window he is clearly surprised to see I am not alone, because he wanted to ticket me for driving alone in the carpool lane. Instead he claims I was following too closely and tickets me for that. He was a complete fucking asshole with a napoleon complex too. Dude was like 5'4 and was lecturing me and scolding me.

Who the FUCK would tailgate a cop in the snow? Tried to appeal but he had written in the report that I was so close he couldn't even see me headlights. 100% lie, but what could I do at that point? Tried filing a complaint but got nowhere.

Have been pulled over many times and gotten a couple legit tickets, and most cops were polite and treated me like a human being. But a couple were the definition of the reason they get a bad rep.

Was pulled over for not yielding to a pedestrian in a parking lot. Cop was a bit of a dick but I was compliant. Let me go with a warning after making a few remarks about how I smelled like weed (hadn't even smoked that day).
 
ok, so back in high school me and a friend are hanging out with his cousin who was a pretty hot woman.
we pick up beer from someone over 21 and go over to her place.
we walk in.
i realize she is the girl from local stories of a man who whores out his underage daughter for his friends to fuck
first thing she does when we sit down is play a porno like this is fucking normal--think taxi driver
then we go to get the beer out of my car.
she locks us out
town has curfew
cops sees us outside house and we run
we get caught eventually
i sit there handcuffed to the wall for an hour
 
Undercover cops jumped a car that I was in stuck a gun in my face, had us all hand cuffed and searched the driver's car. Found a brick and a half of cocaine. Fat undercover talked a bunch of crap about how I was going to jail for a long time, I told him I'll speak to me lawyer, cop stopped talking to me. 6 months and 20 grand later charges were dropped. This was like 3+ years ago. Haven't spoken to a cop since, never been pulled over completely clean driving and criminal record.
