Derrick Lewis vs Sergei Pavlovich

Derrick getting a little older but I will go with him. He is undefeated against eastern European folks. Oleynik, Blagoy, Volkov, Tybura , Shamil , Grabowski and Pesta all fell to the Black Beast. It's like Wanderlei. I will never bet against Wanderlei if he fights an Asian person.

Pavlovich looks like a monster. Lewis has been counted out before though.

Pavlovich appears to have been training in America for this fight. He has a lot of knockout power and will have a large reach advantage.

He should probably be the favorite but he has been knocked out before by lesser punchers than Derrick Lewis; 50/50 fight in my opinion.

Always rooting for the Beast but wouldnt be suprised if he loses.

Lol that's crazy but true. He really skated by the skin of his teeth in most of those though. Arguably lost to Blagoy, and had to comeback against the rest. If the Shamil fight were 3 rounds he loses 30-27. I'm not sure he can afford to comeback anymore at his age against a young lion. I could see him just stoming Pavlovich early like he did Daukus though.

Definitely has the experience advantage but Pavlovich is huge and explosive. And has a reach advantage which has been trouble for Derrick in the past. JDS, Gane, Volkov, Browne, Mittrione.

Should be fun while it lasts

I think Sergei gets the KO here. He's much faster than Lewis, is younger, has a longer reach and plenty of power of his own. Lewis has been finished a few times and is getting old. He bulldozed Daukus with ease, but I rate Sergei higher than him.
I don't think Lewis can afford to take many hits from Sergei.

Lewis' career is going to go into a tailspin, he loses this one badly and brutally.

Doesn’t Sergei have the same reach as Jon Jones?

His only loss was to Overeem. I do agree that it's a 50/50 fight, though.

About as volatile a fight as you'll find. Both have the power to hurt the other guy and neither has some proven Ivanov-esque chin where they'll be shrugging off the other's shots consistently. That being said, in Pavlovich's loss to Reem he didn't get dropped and never went fully out. Overeem took him down with a sweep, trapped him against the fence from top position, and managed to land several solid GnP shots that hurt Pavlovich until the fight was called. So maybe a slight durability advantage for Sergei? That's iffy though.

Sergei has the reach advantage, youth, and wrestling to fall back on hypothetically, but he's yet to use the latter in the Octagon... hell, after the last fight Derrick might even shoot on him. Lewis has, IMO, better timing with his shots and far more experience.

Could honestly see it going either way, but regardless it's going to be a KO/TKO within the first two rounds IMO.

Thats what I was referencing. Obviously you have to put that loss in context given his youth at the time, the caliber of his opponent, spot on the card as the Co-Main, and location given it was his first time fighting outside Russia.

I believe Sergei wins a decision over Lewis but I wouldn't rule out a KO in round 2 or 3.

Just noticed this fight is in a few days. I always love seeing Lewis go at it.

But how good is this Pavlovich guy? 15-1? 12 of 15 wins via KO/TKO, and if the UFC stats are correct, he basically never goes for take downs? 84" reach???

This has the makings of a brutal highlight reel KO... just not sure who is the victim.
