Media Derrick Lewis says Alistair Overeem turned him down 3 times

If Overeem beats Lewis, they'll just say Lewis is too slow, out of shape, and a sloppy brawler. Which is certainly the case against someone like Overeem.

Winning that fight does nothing for Overeem. I doubt he's scared of Lewis, he's just wanting another title shot and wants a fight that will take him closer.

Why would Lewis want to fight Overeem anyway. That's like drinking the oldest gallon of milk in your refrigerator.

His recent resume aint too bad so I don't see why he wouldn't want to fight Overeem.

Bad matchup for overeem at this point. Derrick clips him at some point and that’s a wrap

Reem's been KO'd 15 times, if Lewis landed a bomb on him at any stage of his career he'd go down.

Why isn't Derrick calling out Blaydes? Or even Ngannou (A guy he has a "win" over). Sounds like he's looking for easy winnable fights.

Why would he call out fighters hes already beat?

If a Ford Escort does this

Imagine what a Mack Truck would do!

Lol Alistair has taken on almost every fighter across 2 decades that is worthy of the HOF. Highly doubt it.

Lewis could ko him but Overeem is a much more well rounded fighter, dont sleep on him.

I don't believe this for a second and I'm not a big Reem fan at all. The Reem would destroy Black Beast's body with kicks and knees.

I have to agree, don't believe Reem ducks anyone.

To get a title shot? Ngannou is currently the #1 contender. Beating him means getting a title shot.

Slow down chief, Ivanov and Latifi arent enough to get you ready for a title shot eliminator.

Plus I doubt the UFC would book that fight again unless one was champ. Ngannou is clear contender, Lewis needs another win minimum.

If you listened to the interview he said he did call out Blaydes and Overeem lol

Blades would hump him to a living death. Nobody wants to see Beast Frank , He isnt pressed for a title shot he just wants to stay active. Did that really need explanation lol?

i wouldn't mind seeing Lewis vs Blaydes. Lewis is good at getting up and Blaydes doesn't have the submission attack to stop him from doing so. i'm sure Blaydes can hold him down for a while, but i wouldn't bet on him holding him down for all 3 rds. he nearly had a stroke trying to wrestlefuck Volkov who isn't exactly known for being great on the ground.

on the feet Lewis has a clear advantage. Blaydes has the size to clip him there too, but he lacks the confidence.

Even though Overeem has posted about 3 times on his Instagram calling out Derrick...

Get past the your task this weekend, the guy Overeem KO'd a couple fights back.

Overeem fights pretty much everyone so it's hard to believe he refused to fight Lewis unless it was about money or he was given a fighter he thought would give him a better shot at a title shot.

Great, a guy whose entire gimmick is to say stupid shit so fans will ignore his lack of talent accuses a guy who has fought all the toughest opponents across multiple combat sports, organizations, weight classes, generations, and never asked for an easy fight even after taking ridiculous damage of ducking him.

It says a lot about the state of MMA that people enjoy anything about Lewis as a person.

Not really. Lewis is a good guy. He got asked about ducking Blaydes basically and said he's fought everyone in the top 10 except Blaydes and Overeem and he tried to face both of them. He didn't even say Reem ducked he said he didn't accept this particular fight (maybe Reem needed more time etc). Lewis was basically just saying he's not taking the easy road and if you look at his resume he isn't.

Well let me crush this right quick. In the video he clearly states he asked for Blaydes and the UFC didnt. So the why didnt he ask for someone else thing is kinda silly

Agreed, but only with the stipulation that the milk in your fridge is technically superior to you and can knock you out. So I guess not really agreed then.

Except that my hypothetical was about Derrick Lewis fighting Overeem, so...no.
