Deontay Wilder would be a small LHW

He's 6'7", 83" reach but only 211 lbs. Yet he's packing that kind of a punch on that height, that reach, and that weight. How would he do in MMA? He's like a Jon Jones but even taller and with enough power to KO super HWs.
the only difference is Jon Jones is scared to test himself at heavyweight and hiding out at 205

He would never be in MMA. He's making tens of millions of dollars boxing... he's going to take 200k to have someone kicking his leg and trying to take him down?

He would make millions if he took an MMA fight, not 200k. Still wouldn't get paid enough, ofc.

Jon Jones or any other solid light heavyweight would take him down and beat him into dust in the first round. You think he gets away with this shit against any fighter with solid grappling? <45>

Why are you assuming he would fight like that against grapplers in an MMA fight?

In boxing they could feed him the 5 best ufc hw's, he will dispose of them in 5 round, with 1 minute break in between rounds. Total fight time 70 seconds. All of them one punch KO, most likely the first.

Hell, he'll dispose of the all HW mma fighters, all 30 of them worldwide in one night.

Why does everybody assume that boxers can never learn enough basic take down defence and grappling to be competitive in mma? What pro boxers have you seen dedicate say 12 months to pure mma training? its never been done before therefore nobody knows how good an elite boxer in his prime could do if he dedicated him self to mma the way he's dedicated him self to boxing.

Wilder is arguable the biggest puncher in combat sports history and has power for 12 rounds, in a 3-5 round fight the pace and intensity he could set would be crazy. He may very well just get taken down and tapped out in minuets but so many people just assume a boxer could never transition and do well, its never been done by any pro boxer in their prime. Punch drunk retarded james toney who had zero idea what the hell mma really even was doesn't count. Nobody knows.

Jones is defending his belt in his weightclass. He is where he should and has to be. There is a whole line of contenders trying to dethrone him. In fact, he'd be hiding from them if he changed weightclass.

Consecutive title defenses is the hardest thing to do in MMA.

You're just a hater.

they basically just need to get to Crocops level of TDD. in addition, they dont throw kicks, so there is less a chance of a td there, too. It certainly isnt impossible, but until the money is better than boxing, all we might get are washups.

There is a whole line of MW journeymen ready to fight him. He is preparing for the next one.

There’s levels to this

Wilder avoids real a level athletes in nba by beating up c level athletes in boxing

He would make it look even easier beating up d level athletes in ufc

As they would your favorite heavyweight boxer (ie Fury and Joshua).

If you have no ground game or at least good takedown defense, you have no business being in mma..

Tell that to Meagan Anderson. I believe she’s held a belt in another big org. She was also promoted as the next big threat to Cyborg.

How’d all that work out for her?

he is 211 lbs cause he wants. If he wanted to make 265 it would be very easy, only eatting more kcals per day, but it seem he feels good so Slim, he is 41-0-1 with 40 ko's, not bad lol. I saw this boxing poster this week, and i think i have to show us, it's amazing

Awesome poster indeed

The people in this thread seem to be talking about different things. Are we talking about a guy jumping into MMA without any preparation? Or a normal situation where he has time to prepare and make adjustments with an MMA team? Maybe if he started with MMA instead of boxing? And the the most important question, if so, how much time?

Well, he’s an Olympic level athlete who won bronze with minimal training in boxing before hand. He’s 41-0-1 as a professional now. And he’s in his prime. Francis Ngannou, a lesser athlete was able to accomplish quite a bit in heavyweight MMA with— what was it, three years of training?

I think Wilder would do well if we aren’t ripping him straight from the ring and dropping him into the octagon.

This is a silly argument. You truly believe he would transition a move like this into MMA if he did (millions of dollars lost aside)? He's boxing, clearly upset and being held by the ref - this wouldn't translate in MMA.

He weighed over 220 this past weekend just as he did for most fights. He's similar to Jones in that he's not a very heavy guy but has a huge frame, so he's no really at a size disadvantage. MMA training usually focuses more on strength and anaerobic training than boxing too so he's probably gain some more weight. I think he'd be a big light heavyweight or small heavyweight, depending on if he wanted to make the cut

Imo he would knock a lot of guys out in the UFC with that style and his athletisim.

IF One of those bombs connects with mma gloves on it’s goodnight
