Lmao. At least they're blocking a bill for a clause that actually helps people. Politicians love blocking bills at crucial times, but usually it's to shoehorn a clause that benefits corporations.

Maybe...but give me one good reason why they're trying to add in new emission standards for Airlines, to this bill?

They are asking for a huge welfare check from taxpayers so maybe while we are shoveling truckload after truckload of our cash into their accounts we should ask them to do us some solids like not pollute as much. Wild I know! We should hand them all the cash and just thank them for taking our money I guess.

Give me one good reason there isn't adequate provisions for the health care workers fighting this crisis and putting not their stock price, but their lives at risk, yet there is adequate provisions for corporate boards to pay with?

Ahhh yes, the old republican mantra "look at the scary boogeyman over there out the destroy our country!". You guys ever get sick of acting so hysterical lol?
Republicans are trying to help the American people, democratic leadership is doing everything they can to crash our economy on purpose.

Only the most partisan leftists will deny this fact.

This is a shameless attempt at a power grab on the part of the democratic leadership. That's an enemy of the people if there ever was one.

Democrats are usually the ones agitating for safety nets and more government assisstance for society. They are opposed to this bill because the GOP is trying to slide in Corporate Bailouts with laxed oversight and rules. Democrats do NOT oppose the help for families, small business and struggling individuals, which is why you see people like Ilhan Omar supporting Trump. Giving money to the average Joe is a very Social Democratic / Bernie and Democrat policy.

--
Major sticking points remain as of Sunday night, however. Democrats want more funding for hospitals and health care workers across the country who have struggled with shortages of beds and protective gear. They’re also demanding a bigger expansion of unemployment benefits for workers who get fired due to the pandemic.

“Wall Street’s going to do just fine. They’ve always rebounded real well ... let’s take care of the people we’re asking to take care of us if we need them,” Sen. Joe Manchin, a conservative Democrat from West Virginia, said in a floor speech.

Democrats are also unhappy with the portion of the bill aimed at helping distressed industries with at least $450 billion in loans. The massive fund would be controlled by the Treasury Department and could include bailouts to hotels, casinos, cruise lines, and the oil and gas industry. It includes virtually no restrictions on how the money would be distributed, allowing properties owned directly by President Donald Trump to receive a bailout, for example, according to a Democratic aide familiar with the negotiations.

Another provision in the bill Democrats oppose would allow Mnuchin to delay publicly releasing the names of businesses that receive a bailout, as well as the amounts of those loans, for six months.

“We’re not here to create a slush fund for Donald Trump and his family, or a slush fund for the Treasury Department to be able to hand out to their friends,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) told reporters. “We’re here to help workers, we’re here to help hospitals. And right now what the Republicans proposed does neither of those.”

Maybee the GOP / White House shouldn't be trying to use this emergency to give money to the 1% with little restrictions and oversight....

They are also known as employers. But hey, fuck job creation because some business man might benefit.

maybe the democrats should have took this pandemic seriously back in january before it arrived in the USA, instead of proceeding and distracting people with a sham impeachment attempt that was the main story in the MSM.

Around the time Trump banned incoming flights from China and Pelosi and Chuck and media was calling him a racist, xenophobe, and doing “more harm than good” in fighting the pandemic according to WHO.

“they knew”, right? Just ask the current cognitive impaired democrat presidential nominee— that is if he knows what date it is today. Smh

Maybe they should have. Doesn't change the fact it's a shit bill.

Oh gee I don't know....we're gonna give billions to help an industry without any stipulations whatsoever because panic?

The whole reason people are dying of covid is because of underlying respiratory issues. Clean air is the number 1 biggest contributor to respiratory health.

So asking for better emission standards in exchange for billions ain't much. Damn we're doomed as a species if people cannot understand this.

That's not the main criticism. Democrats are opposed to Republicans sneaking in Corporate Bailouts and not enough funding for healtcare.

Schumer complained that McConnell’s bill was partisan. He said it amounts to “a large corporate bailout” with insufficient oversight, and shortchanges the health-care response to the pandemic. He said there should be “much more money” for hospitals for equipment that is rapidly becoming in short supply.

Democrats block package after dispute with GOP over corporate bailout provisions and aid to workers
https://www.wsj.com/articles/admini...nalize-coronavirus-rescue-package-11584889949

Okay. I read your article. This is also from your attached link.

To attract Democrats, McConnell had agreed to many of their demands, adding hundreds of billions of dollars in fresh spending, including a $600 per week increase per worker in unemployment benefits, a $75 billion public health package, and tens of billions more for transit, education, nutrition and assorted other programs.

The total package includes about $2 trillion worth of proposals, including $350 billion for small businesses, a $500 billion chunk of the bill that can be used for loans to larger corporations including airlines or state and local governments, extensive corporate tax breaks and tax deferrals, and direct payments of $1,200 for middle-class and low-income Americans.

Pelosi left a meeting in McConnell’s office earlier Sunday saying they had no deal and the House would write its own package -- a move that could add days of partisan wrangling. Pelosi later told House Democrats that the Senate bill was “very different” from the package they were crafting.

Even before the defeat of the Senate’s procedural motion, House Democratic leaders were not planning to call the chamber’s members back to Washington on Monday, or even Tuesday. House Democrats have instead scheduled a caucus-wide telephone call Tuesday afternoon, rather than bringing members back by then, senior Democratic aides said.

Again, that's from your article that I read through. Now is not the time for this type of garbage. If there have been a ton of concessions already, concessions that you yourself approve of, why do we cancel the whole thing because "some corps are gonna get bailed out", as if we wouldn't bail them out anyway, and disregard all the other good attached to the bill? Bro. I mean like, bruh. This is the ugly side of politics. The American people aren't the ones benefiting from this trash.

It is kind of funny. You can reduce emissions of jet engine to point. And we already have made leaps and bounds from the Pratt and Whitney engines of the 60s to the Rolls Royce Trent engines of today. Today's jet engine uses WAY less fuel than they did decades ago. But, you can only ask so much from a jet propelled engine as it relates to generation enough thrust to move a massive plane.

Maybe the people that are calling for this will be the first sign up to test fly an all new electric airplane?

If you want to die on the hill of 'pollution' while citizens try to figure out how they're going to pay their bills this month.... go for it

Has anyone actually read the bill? Republicans are packing horrible cronyism into the bill and giving more cash windfalls to corporations.

Ugh, @Jack V Savage please handle this

If you're given a banquet to feed starving people, give them scraps, and keep 98% of the food for yourself, they'll hail you as a hero.

Because they'll never know that they were supposed to get all of it.

Republicans are trying to help corporation's here, and really lacked focus on American working people. Read the bill, huge whiff on protecting the American people who are the working class.

Question, why don't you support proper provisions for the health care workers on the ground fighting this crisis and risking their lives? Why do you prefer rushing bail out money to corporate boards with little strings attached to pay with and skipping over these working Americans risking their lives?

Good luck with that. we'll see how the citizens appreciate your concern for the pollution when they cant buy food.

THANK YOU! All of a sudden during a crisis people conveniently forgot America is still an oligarchy of corporations. It never changed and I doubt it will now.

Again, that's not the sticking point.

I want to die on the hill of "give proper provisions to health care workers who are risking their lives, provide strong unemployment insurance, and if these corporations want free money they can't take it and then lay off all their workers whose taxes paid for their bail out". Really wild stuff i know.

Not sure why you want to die on the hill of "we need to be shoveling billions of our dollars into corporate accounts with little to no strings immediately as it is more important than the country's workers and health care providers. They can wait."

People with student debt aren't the only "starving people" though. Rather than cancel $10,000 of student debt for each individual who owes at least that amount, why not take the sum total of that amount and divide it for all Americans making, say, less than $60k?

"Orange man bad, but I'm too stupid to know why, so someone smarter than me needs to explain it....because orange man bad.

Dems aren't against helping employers, they just want better rules and oversight on dishing out money to large corporate concerns and more money for healthcare.
I am a small business owner. I voluntarily closed my non-retail business out of an abundance of concern.

There should be a way to provide some relief separately from the all-encompassing bill. Not saying the dems are right but there does need to be oversight and review and they need to make the bill make sense. But some things should be able to go out without delay or discussion.

We should get people the relief money as fast as possible without arguing.

handouts are socialism, excuse me, communism

work for your money - no freeloading

what are you, a rusky in disguise?
