Why is that, do you think?
My best guess? They share common personality traits that make them more vulnerable to psychological projection, or other rationalizing self defense mechanisms.

Democrat and won't apologize. The moral gulf is Grand fuck Canyon.

The both siders and the left?

Do Americans not understand the difference between social programs and full blown socialism?
Not american, but yes, socialism is the final destination, social programs is just the path.

Within my first years after moving to Brazil the socialist party here decided they'd come up with a UBI/welfare program called bolsa família. Giving away a small amount of money for any person who is not a legit employee. Thanks to that they create an enormous group of people who had money straight from government, therefore they won the next 4 elections, so left wing ruled Brazil for 24 years straight.

Quoting Margareth Tatcher: Sooner or later socialism runs out of other people's money. That happened in 2014 (though signs were plenty before), 5 years later Brazil is still struggling to recover from that, have a look of BRL to USD rate on a 10 years span: ( https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=USD&to=BRL&view=10Y )

Since I had my share of can$ I sold them and bought brls as economy was booming, seduced by the promises of a social panacea, that was a bigger mistake than investing in bitcoin.

I've always stuck with the term socio-capitalism, even though it irks my good friend @Jack V Savage.

We haven't been a totally free market capitalistic society the minute tax revenue attributed towards social well being of the population.

Pretty sure we've never interacted on that issue, though I agree with whoever you're mistaking me for that it's a dumb term.

Ed: Looked it up, and see one brief interaction on it. Good posts from me there.

I wonder why there’s so many obvious posters from both sides that aren’t willing to admit their party.

So you were initially wrong, found out you were wrong, then doubled down?

Where have I seen that before?

I'll give you the benefit of not just editing the whole post though.

This means I have a better memory than you. You don't remember most of what I've said probably. That dementia I mentioned is real, my friend. Even @BarryDillon knows. He's kind of like your caretaker at this point.

Lean Democrat but despise identity politics.

Don't know what you're trying to say, but, yeah, it's a dumb term.

Definitely Democrat. I agree with Republicans on certain issues at times(e.g. guns) but right now I think the two biggest issues we face right now are wealth inequality and climate change and the Democrats, despite being far from perfect in general, are far better than the GOP on those two issues.

For me, the broader issue of rationality vs. gut thinking is more important than any particular ones. I think that rational thought is not in complete control with Democrats but it is significant, while there is pretty much no rational thought influencing the GOP these days.

I know you don't, and that's the issue. But it's okay Jack, we're going to get through this. With patience, loving care and preseverience. Right, @BarryDillon?
Why do you weirder guys try to cover for being wrong by acting like creeps? That's so strange.

It's liberating to admit when you're wrong, and people respect you for it.

That's what I've been saying. Glad we see eye to eye.

If I was "Murican, I'd probably vote for a Democrat, or a suitably appealing independent candidate.

I want maximum civil liberties, and the provision of basic social services, particularly education and health, to the highest possible standard.

I don't dig on the OTT social justice stuff, but I also think it's been made into more than what it is because right wing commentators have made an industry around pandering to people who get triggered about other people getting triggered.
