Which one are you and why?

I'm a Republican because I think government should be smaller and they don't have Third party that works this way.

hi SamSchmidt, good to see you today,

Republicans always struck me as having a kind of uptight vibe about them - and it bums me out.

*muses*

i was raised in a family of scientists - both my folks are chemists.

GOP dogma from Reagan on to present day has become incompatible with science when it comes to the environment. that bugs me too.

I usually vote Democrat in the national and Republican for state and local. I’ve been voting third party for president since Bill Clinton though. I’d REALLY like to vote for a Dem for president this year so I can say I voted for the person to kick you know who out. Like I’d even give up half of a Saturday to help load his shit up in a U-Haul if it would get him out of the White House faster.

I cannot support what Democrats support. I love my country and it must remain what it has been. There is progress and then there's repeating mistakes that have already been made because you erase history... because it's offensive, easy. You cannot... erase history. You cannot take the mistakes of not just millions dead from socialism in the twentieth century alone... millions at risk of death from it in Venezuela... And try to repeat them in the greatest country on earth... it must remain. And I believe the republicans want that. And I believe the democrats do not.

No one advocating for that kind of socialism though.

This is a pure fantasy on your part.

They're not in power yet.... And they're already unreasonable. So. Make of that what you will, as will I.

You're just wrong, people just want something similar to Europe, not Venezuela.

I agree it's no easy task, but your understanding and framing is just completely inaccurate.

Independent/Democrat leaning (didn't vote in 2016).

Republicans are filled with morally void, and narrow-minded people that represent thoughtless drones.

Average Joe: "We want socialism"
Republicans: "Socialism is a failed experiment that claimed a hundred billion trillion lives. Look what it did to Venezuela! Go live in Venezuela if you want socialism.
AJ: "No, like Europe"
Republicans: "That's not socialism. They're capitalist countries..."
AJ:"Let's have that then"
Republicans: "No"
AJ: "Why?"
Republicans: "Because that's communism"

I don't want America to be like Europe either. Sorry.

But their people are on average more happier and have access to better healthcare and education. They also spend less on both per capita.

On paper, I would vote for the republicans because of:

- smaller government
- personal freedom
- controlled immigration
- gun ownership, less arbitrary gun laws
- less war-mongering

But in reality, they are not really living up to their optics. So, at the end of the day, I would vote libertarian.

Has absolutely nothing to do with their current healthcare and education systems which are all post war concepts.

True but I think we should come up with something better that doesn't put everything in the government's hands.

But their systems are objectively better than ours, better results and cost less money.

I just think we should have less government power not more. But that's just me.

Wouldn't a government that's cheaper fit into that?

We're already paying the money, and then some, for worse results.
