Would be a crazy fight. Saku's somersault guard passes and crazy moves were hard for a pure BJJ guy to deal with.

Sakuraba by being the greatest grappler in the history of mixed martial arts. If he had took his health seriously and honed his stand up skills a bit more he could of been possibly the greatest.

I have to agree with this. He benefited from the years that all those Gracies put in work for one, so he'd wipe the floor with them, and prime Sakuraba would want to beat Maia at his own game and lose trying. Maia is a Jiu-Jitsu maestro. There's few like him. In MMA anyway.

Ur absolutely right, they were wizards of their time, but just like everything else, the game evolves, Maia had the examples and groundwork they built and has been able to build and set the current bar of grappling higher

A bjj practitioner I take it.

Perhaps Damien's skillset is better moulded to mixed martial art's than the Gracie's were.

What belt do you currently hold in BJJ may I ask?
