Are deli meats a wise choice to eat before hitting the weights?

I usually eat a few pieces of turkey, roast beef or ham an hour before lifting. Is this a wise choice? I could also eat some protein powder, but I tend to save that for post lifting.

I hear deli meats aren't good due to all the sodium, which causes blood pressure.

just a bunch of deli meat? if its a matter of convenience, maybe an apple, a piece of cheese, and 3 boiled eggs would be better.

Yea usually a bunch of deli meats as a protein source. I also might eat a piece of bread or some wheaties for the carbohydrates.
