Well you haven't told anyone where you live, city, state, or even country. How are we going to know where you can buy deer meat in your local area if we don't even know what your local area is.

Get in a car, drive to the woods and shoot a deer.

STFU dumbass. If you don't know don't even bother posting in the thread.

Haha, you have a strange way of asking for help.

But okay, whatever.

I know some restaurants will sometimes have venison available seasonally or as a wild game special. I am not sure of a commercial source for it. You may want to look into bison or elk to see if those are available. Good luck.

we have a guy that processes deer, he has a deal where you bring him the whole deer, pay $15 and he will process it and give to needy families. ask some hunters if they know of a place that does this near you. He may sell it to you. All of my family hunts and this guy is great for when we fill our freezers, we can keep hunting without wasting and help out the less fortunate.

Also here in Mississippi we have a website developed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife fisheries and parks. They have a forum like this where you might find some answers.

Find out where the check in stations are around you. Normally one will be a butcher as well that will process the meat for a charge. A lot of times people come back to get teh deer and realize that charge was more than they anticipated and say fuck it. The butcher then has a meat case where he will sell trail baloney and the like. As far as cuts of deer like steaks, that may be harder to obtain depending on what they have on hand at the time. I would say you definitely need to check during deer hunting season though. It likely isn't carried out of season.

I've never really checked to be honest as I hunt and butcher my own, but it's worth a shot.

NOrmally wild deer meat is not for sale, USDA regs. However you may want to contact your local law enforcment department. Sometimes they will have a list for people who are willing pick up deer that are hit on the roadways.

Yes roadkill. But many times when a deer is hit most of the animal is useable. The deer you would get would be fresh kills not the ones that sit along the highways for days.

Your other option is commerically raised deer, expensive and you can probably find it with a internet search if you look long enough.

Then there is the befreind a hunter method which is the cheapest easiest and best way. He gets to hunt, dress and butcher the animal you get to eat. Thats what I do

That's some solid advice, and has potential. It's illegal to sell game meat here, so you either 1) have to know someone who hunts and beg off them, 2) do the above and buy off the butcher, or 3) Hunt, kill, dress, and butcher the game yourself. The last option also has the benefit of substantially raising your test values.

I am not familar with what is Trail Baloney, is it closer to summer sausage or jerky

I did that this year. They started a program in Ohio called Farmers and Hunters feed the hungry where you can donate a deer to a participating butcher free of charge and they will butcher and donate it to the food shelter. They say 1 adult deer can provide 200 meals (I'm guessing that's a lot of soup base). I shot 4 this year so I donated 2 and butchered 2.

I have a buddy that likes the meat but doesn't hunt so he pays for one of my tags and helps butcher and I give him one.

Yeah, it's basically summer sausage. Different names for different regions I suppose.

Missouri's version is called Share the Harvest. As bag limits have increased greatly in the past several years I've noticed the number of hunters donating one of their kills keeps going up(saw it on the news). I'm not sure but I even think there is a tax deduction here for it.

Trail baloney just sounded like what most people would call a conversation with me on the way to a deer stand. Figured it was sausage of some sort but wanted to know thaks for answering

You can get it shipped on ice. Specialty shops should carry it as well.
Call your local hunting group and ask around. Even guys in the city hunt.... Just get in and buy a tag for a deer, they shoot it and process it for you.... for a fee of course. I pay for a deer tag (hunting permit) each year. Give it to a buddy, so he has 2 tags. He will process the meat, I give him half the deer.
