International "Death knell" for Hong Kong . China set to pass law that strips Hong Kong of liberties and freedoms

I'd like to see the US annex parts (or all) of Canada rather than see it fall into the hands of the communist party of China. If not maybe help start a civil war? I know China wouldn't want there to be a Canadian civil war.
Hard pass

Fuck off or we burn the White House again.

Some China related videos on YT I watched a few weeks ago stated: the West really believed China would change when their economy opens up and they interect with the global Western dominated financial system and were allowed access to Western tech and investment. One American who was closely involved in getting China into the WTO said China has reneged on their end of the agreement, namely that getting into the WTO and receiving Most Favored Nation status fromt he US was conditional on free and fair trade from China and liberalizing , instead we got massive I.P. theft and Chinese hegemonic imposition. He - and others in the Western elite- didn't believe China would turn out the way it has when they supported China in the 70s , 80s and 90s. The gist of the YT video was that Western elites assumed China would liberalize, open up and leave behind its authoritarian ways.
Yep. The CCP has lied it's way into being. There are just accelerating their awful ways now. This is amazing. They can't abide by a single treaty

You disarmed pussies wouldn't do shit except cower.

Also Canada's troops haven't seen combat since Afghanistan and who knows how many combat vets are still in the armed forces.

We have some in Iraq but not the amount that would make a difference.

Canada's gun owners could take Canada.

They were only able to become this powerful because our establishment helped them. Our elites did the same with Saudi Arabia, and look how much damage Wahhabism and Saudi petro-dollars has caused.

Mentioned this about 2 days ago, but thread was forgotten.

The US Senate passed the Holding Foreign Companies accountable Act.

On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate passed -- unanimously -- a bill that aims to ban IPOs by Chinese companies on U.S. stock markets, and that could even force Chinese companies already listed on the Nasdaq and NYSE to delist their shares and exit the U.S. The Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (HFCA), if it is next passed by the U.S. House of Representatives and signed into law by President Trump, will have two main requirements: First, foreign-owned companies (sponsors made it clear that the bill is aimed at Chinese companies, but the language captures stocks from any foreign issuer) must be able to prove that they are neither owned nor controlled by a foreign government.

Chinese Companies Could Be Delisted From U.S. Stock Exchanges: What It Means for Investors

The U.S. Senate approved the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (HFCAA) on Wednesday, sweeping legislation that could result in non-U.S. companies that fail to meet a number of strict criteria being barred from trading on U.S. stock exchanges. The bill was approved without objection.

"The Chinese Communist Party cheats, and the Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act would stop them from cheating on U.S. stock exchanges," Kennedy wrote in a post on Twitter. "We can't let foreign threats to Americans' retirement funds take root in our exchanges."

HK hasn't been in a good position, they exist purely in a state of "delayed annexation / assimilation". Seems like China wants to speed it up.

Wish I had a retort to say you're wrong....you're not wrong.
What's also sad is that many companies don't make money in China due to IP theft and cheating. We gave us so much, so so few can gain so little. Even Yum brands spun off KFC China due to not wanting direct exposure there.
Then with SA we're being squared from the bottom as well. We really painted ourselves into the corner here

Good Luckin coffee and other loadings have been outright fraud. Now with these new Hong Kong laws, I won't even consider HK based companies at all

Well they were supposed to be a model for Taiwan. Now that Taiwan said nope nope nope, China decided it doesn't need to pretend anymore

The US government is threatening to revoke special favorable trade agreements made with Hong Kong if the CCP goes ahead with this law.

HK lost some of its financial clout and influence as Shenzen and Shanghai rose in prominence, but HK is still a financial hub with the HK stock exchange being the 3rd largest stock exchange in Asia. China is shooting off its own foot by clamping down on HK.

it was always going to happen. china has been shooting itself in the foot all year, whats one more.

You knew it was coming. You can't really expect one of the most tightly controlled and repressive countries in the world, to allow one region to remain as some sort of a "free state" subjected to different rules.

Eventually all of China and much of the rest of Asia will be homogenized by them. There's just too much power, wealth, and ultimately, will, residing there. They'll be like the Germany of Europe, except their plans of conquest and homogenization will go uninterrupted.

China is Nazi Germany without the sense of fun and sexy uniforms:(

Philippines? You mean China's new poodle since Duterte came to power? I think Xi has half of ASEAN dangling from his nutsack.

Aren’t they pissed about the fake island that China built. Duarte just wants money. He probably wants to trade with anyone besides China.

Completely fucked that Americans are more outraged over a proposed law thousands of miles away yet there is virtually the same laws here in America as we speak

Singaporean and Malaysian real estate value just went way up.

Big protest going on today. Been checking out Reddit for pictures and videos.
