Check in here & introduce yourself -

Also, we need to come up with a team name - suggestions??

happy new year everyone! glad to be part of this team. lets kill it!

Great to be here! I think this is a great team with a lot of strong, knowledgeable people. I am going to work very hard to find a way to pack some pounds on my deadlift, though my progress is usually very slow and I would be happy with even 10 pounds over the next six months. Perhaps I can find a way to increase that number with some of the changes to training I'm making.

Anyway, thank you for selecting me. Best of luck to everyone--let's push each other and make some good progress here.

Thanks for picking me calvus. I'll be concentrating on deadlifts this 2013 so hopefully i can make some significant gains for our team.

Good luck to everyone.

Good job on an awesome team roster, calvus! Happy 2013 everybody, let's make some progress!

Starting numbers:
DL = 160 kg
SOHP = 72.5 kg

As I mentioned in the roll call thread, heaviest I've ever DLed is 140 kg and I haven't been DLing for years, but, since my lower-body is significantly stronger now, I felt having 140 as my starting DL would be sandbagging. Furthermore, I'm planning to lose some BW and focus on improving my relative lower-body strength and power/explosiveness over the next semester (but will still be trying to improve my currently-pathetic upper-body strength).

Having said that, I'm hoping to make some progress with the press and I think I should be able to get some decent improvement in the DL as well. Right now I'm running cratos' program for SOHP and I'm thinking I'll do speed DLs once a week and try to fit in a heavy~ish DL session once or twice per month.

Goals for the end of the comp:
DL: 180+
SOHP: 80+

Glad you guys are all on board!! I'm excited for the comp.

I NEED to get my deadlift to 500, it's embarrassing. Please help me do this. I'll post everyone's starting numbers & stuff soon. I expect to contribute 40-50 pounds to the team.

I'm heading out for NYE in a few - I hope everyone has a safe & enjoyable night.

Well, I will move heaven and earth to improve my deadlift. Whatever blood I can squeeze out of this stone is what you'll get.

And you all have my support. Let's hold each other accountable and be supportive. If some newbie team beats us for progress, then so be it, but let's out-work every other group.

Yo, lets do this. It just so happens that I'm running the Coan/Phillipi DL program, (gonna do the week 3 program today) so I expect some good gains. Projected to 495 (+40 lbs) at the end of 16 weeks, hoping to be over 500 at the end of this comp.

For SOHP I'm running 5/3/1 with an inverted assistance scheme, plan to run Smolov Jr for it before the comp is over.

Happy New Year guys!

I started lifting two years ago with Starting Strength, took a few months off for personal reasons and injuries, then started 5/3/1 in July and have been making consistent progress on it since. Two weeks ago I hit PRs at 435 for (conventional) deadlift and 165 for press. I didn't film them unfortunately, but will film all my PRs in these lifts from now on.

What are you guys doing for deadlift routines?
I'm pulling once a week with the ramped 5x5, 3x3, and 5/3/1 sets. After the 5/3/1 prescribe sets I add some weight and go for a couple heavy singles. This has me hitting a 10 lb PR once every 3 weeks (I'm not doing a deload week since I'm on the 2 day split).

But that's not exactly a lot of volume, so I'm wondering what I should add, if anything? Thinking about adding a day for speed deadlift or something.

Also, here's a little inspiration for y'all. Go team!

miaou and i have been thinking a bit about the team name
so here are some ideas:

-annihilators
-big test icicles
-calvus cleins
-dat dere team
-a-team
-deadliftius pressius calvus

Calvus cleins could go something like "Calvus Kleins: deadlifting with style"

I think I like "Deadliftius, Pressius, Calvius" best. That would be a reference to Citius, Altius, Fortius.

Happy New Year!

Starting:
DL: 475
Press: 165

Goals:
DL: 545
Press: 225

I know those are lofty goals, but in the last month my schedule has changed significantly and I am able to make it to the gym much more frequently. My deadlift has been stagnant for a long time and I am ready to start making some real gains.

I like the team name suggestions. I sort of like the Big Test Icicles name. Seems funny. but the latin one is also cool.
