Hey all.. just got back into the lifting scene after a year layoff. Anyway, yesterday was Deads day, and without going too hard and heavy I used 270 for 3x12 just as a re-intro to the godly lift. Having never experienced this before, today my hips (mostly my left) are raped, as in moving about is painful!?! It was fine yesterday so my noob assumption is that I haven't hurt anything, is this the typical DOMS for deadlift or what...?! I rolled like a bitch today in BJJ (as most of you know alot of the power in BJJ comes from the hips/core).
I've been lifting on and off for a few years now, and seriously have never experienced soreness to this extent.

Cheersss

Going back to an exercise you have'nt done in a while can be a real bitch, every time I get injured and have to not do squats for a while I dread going back to them because i'll have to try and climb stiars without bending my legs the next day.

Try some contrast showers and try doing light high rep exercise in the evening a few hours after your next deadlift session (banded GMs work rather nicely) to flush the muscle through with some blood.

DOMS sucks. I'd also use lower reps.....just adjust the load u use if u are just getting back into lifting. Singles and doubles.

Yeah omfg squats.. I feel ya with that one. Getting back into them 2 weeks ago, Im walking all wobbly and stiff-legged for a whole week.
This pain is like a deep tight feeling in my hip thats actually a constant ache now (given that its hips it seems to be a plausible DOMS symptom since they are recruited in virtually every major full body movement)

I had something similar to what you're describing. I had switched to Sumo Deads for a while, and was wide stance squatting. For a while, I had to use the handicap stalls. Just give it some time, and make sure that you're getting adequate rest.

LMAO handicap stalls, that's a good one!! :icon_chee :icon_chee
Man it's intense, I can't even maintain a proper guard on training without thinking my hip is going to tear off. It's feeling better today though :)
