It looks like Oscar De La Hoya is talking about promoting more MMA fights and wants to go head to head with Dana White. I doubt fighters will make more money with Golden Boy than the UFC. What are your thoughts on this?

Oscar paid some of the undercard fighters on his 1st MMA event as low as $1,000 for their show money.

He’s all talk, and lingerie.

oscar also is not doing a good job, so..... but I hope he does because the ufc keeps having more and more stupid decisions

I look forward to golden boy mma 2, Houston Alexander vs Thiago Silva 2 the rematch of the century.

Well Dana has not place to make any judgements about Oscar.

That said, Oscar as a promoter is as shady as the guys he said he would never be.

I seriously doubt any Golden Boy MMA headliner crosses the 1million purse mark anytime soon, why? cause if they are any good or draw they are already signed, they are free agents for a reason.

He should set an example instead of talking.

Fighters on the undercard got paid peanuts.

Put on a card and pay every fighter a fair amount and show Dana White instead of talking.

oscar if you want to do more events, that's great, but please no more PPVs, you probably didn't even make money with this one

Yes the entire card was pathetic. The co-main got 25k and 10k. They had ammys on the undercard who fight for free.

If Oscar cared about fighters he wouldnt have let Chuck anywhere near a cage.

Dana actually got Chuck to retire at least.

I’m not sure but I think a lot of people are failing to see the bigger picture with this.

Whether its Oscar or someone that sherdorks like more in general, what he did as far as giving fighters a large piece of the pie (granted, it was one small ass pie) was necessary. All this hoopla from guys on here about fighter pay, yet, here’s a guy who is willing to cut at least the main event guys in, on a larger portion of the revenue and all Sherdorks do is bash him.

Yes, I understand the #s were abysmal and they didn’t earn their career highs like Oscar was saying, but the fact that someone did this is great. Maybe they can have better fights/cards in the future, while still giving the fighters a larger portion of the money.

The UFC pays its fighters like 12% of what they earn. I understand its a business but that business does not exist without fighters (much like the NBA would not exist without their players etc). I’m not even suggesting the UFC pay fighters 50% or anything, but, an increase is needed, across the board.

There’s a reason why guys like Chuck are still fighting at almost 50 (yes, he is a true fighter and a warrior through and through, but, if he had earned as much as he should have, he wouldn’t ever take punches to the head at age 50, or no normal person would).

I’m not saying Oscar is MMA’s savior, he’s not, he’s a promoter and he’s trying to make money. BUT, the fact that he is willing to give up a lot of the revenue to pay the main event guys is great. Hopefully it trickles down to the rest of the guys at some point and the fighters get the pay that they deserve (at least the hope is that one day the UFC will pay its fighters better).

All amateur bouts are without pay. What’s your point in bringing that up? That he promoted amateur fighters?

The best thing for the sport would be for Oscar to take this very serious and actually build up a brand, a place where fighters can go and make money. If he can do that between golden boy and Bellator fighters actually have places to go. Flexibility and options. It would be great for the sport.

Come on you know a lot better than that. Look at the history of the UFC. Everyone from Older fighters, to guys in their prime have been complaining about treatment and salaries. It’s been going on forever.

Can you really in good conscience shit on Golden Boy MMA payouts when UFC doesn't even let the rank and file wear their own sponsors?

At this point I have more faith in Bellator as an alternative to the outright robbery of fighters UFC perpetrates, but how can you be against competition?
