DDP vs Izzy was one of the best sagas ever

The build up had everything, bad blood, trash talk but not the cringe Colby levels and you didn't know. DDP was the new champion while there were a lot of questions about Izzy and where he was at in this stage of his career.
The fight itself was great and it was cool to see Izzy actually fighting to win and just not coasting. He got DDP good and showed that he was still good but the finishing sequence, where DDP just beat him down and submitted him was amazing.
But most important, the respect after the fight was great. I dunno if Izzy would have shown him the same class had he won but DDP did, paid his respect to Izzy and backstage, even met his parents and apologized almost that he never disrespected them.
This was a great build up, great find and a great aftermath. Gotta hand it to Izzy, like him or not but the Poatan saga and now DDP, dude has been a part of some big moments.

No it wasn't. Maybe if it happened after Izzy KOTY against Alex and Dricus became the 2nd to beat Rob at MW after Izzy.

But then Sean deflated the saga and made both look bad. Dog walked Izzy had him committing DUIs then beat up Dricus in a SD many thought he won. This saga would have been more significant if Sean didn't fight and make both look ordinary and beatable.

True but that Sean Strickland saga led to the downfall of Izzy which was another big story at 185.
I get what you meant that the Sean detour definitely stole a bit of thunder but all in all, I enjoyed it. Bad blood rivalry that resulted in a great fight and there was respect afterwards.
