He wanted to retire being the GOAT HW who KO'd stipe twice without much of a fight

instead he ended up losing like a fucking idiot

if he wrestled he wins that fight 10/10 times.
 
He doesn't need to wrestle to win. He just needs to keep his hands up, pace himself and respect his opponent. He did none of that. He got a little taste of how much more skilled he is than Stipe and said "fuck it, let me just try to make it look easy and spectacular, standing in front of this power puncher with my hands down, toying with him and humiliating him in front of the world for being so god damn annoying and ugly"

I think stipe’s durability put him through more so than Daniel “toying” with him.

DC doesnt take body shots well. If Stipe started attacking the body more early, he would have finished quicker.

Yup, it also doesn’t help that he fought the only guy at HW with better cardio than him. The guy is 40 tho, we knew he couldn’t keep it up forever.

Dc fought like an idiot after the first round dominance. Same with Pettis, one of the best kickers in the game and he decides to box with Diaz LOL doing his best cowboy impression... some odd mental lapses tonight.

Hats off to stipe tho, great fighter and that adjustment he made in the fourth by going to the body was the type of mid fight adjustments only the truly elite can make. Stipe is back on his throne, deservedly so.

Diaz checked Pettis's kick in round 2 which is why he stopped kicking.

Thank god. I don't want to see that POS make another dime off of DC. Let him make chump change fighting MW's that had to move up.
 
Yeah..it was clear at one point, that was exactly what he was trying to do..He knows he has the power to knock him out..and figured, past visions/ring rust/ cardio etc..would get him that ko..but he was being w reckless and smelling blood that wasn't there. D.C.'s whole athletic career, wrestling and mma is full of wetting the bed and brain-farts. Now he's going out on a shitty note

DC was having great success against Stipe in the first 3 rounds, but didn't respect Stipe's body shots in the 4th round. When he finally felt that last one it crippled him, setting up the finish.

It was a great fight and had DC implemented more wrestling early on and/or fought more conservatively he may well have won. It was a great fight. I really don't see how having one of the most entertaining HW fights in UFC history is embarrassing.

If he retires, he still leaves a former Strikeforce Grand Prix champion, 2x UFC LHW Champion, former UFC HW Champion, second fighter to hold 2 belts simultaneously in the UFC, first to successfully defend both titles while holding them, 15-1 at heavyweight, former Olympic wrestler, former #1 Ranked Pound for Pound Fighter etc. It's a freaking wild resume to end a career on.

No offense to Stipe, but he wishes he had even a 1/4 of the resume DC leaves with.
