i suspect there have been issues between AKA and Rockhold because Rockhold really wants to fight at LHW and can’t because that’s DC’s division.

Rockhold stopped training at AKA a little bit ago and DC, in his last after-fight interview, mentioned Khabib being the next LW champ and Cain being the next HW champ but failed to mention Luke being the next MW champ even though Luke is fighting for the MW interim belt soon.

I have no proof but suspect DC is moving to HW to clear the air with Luke and get him back at AKA so they can help him prepare for Romero and then his move to LHW. Who would be better to help Luke prepare for Romero than DC, Khabib and Cain?

In regards to Cain, I think DC is planning to retire after his fight with Stipe whether he wins or loses so it won’t hurt Cain at all. DC has nothing else to prove, doesn’t need to fight to make a good living and he seems like he is getting tired.

A win vs stipe would be the perfect cap to his legendary career and if he loses to stipe well that really wouldn’t be a big deal.

I can’t wait to see Luke at LHW

What if he doesn’t retire?

Does he have to drop to 185?

If Luke becomes 185 champ, does he move up? Being a champ means more money so should he risk it? Luke may just be a top 5 fighter at LHW

He will move up for sure. He has said many times that it is really hard for him to make 185 and the only reason he is there and not in LHW is because DC is in LHW. Luke is also confident that he can beat the LHWs.

My theory: it has nothing to do with Luke, but Dana paid Stipe and DC good money to accept this kind of fight.

You're over thinking this shit
DC got a bunch of money to fight Stipe
He wouldn't move up in weight and fight arguably the best HW ever just so Cockhold can fight in his division lol

How does Luke get brought into this? If it had to do with Luke wanting to move up then why wouldn't he leave the camp and then move up? TS i think you're abit slow, Luke already gave the reason he left camp, Khabib always in Russia, Cormier has commentator jobs + kids so not always in gym and Cain always injured.

Luke left Aka because he had no training partners their. All the big guys were either injured or training for their own fights, and DC is doing the TV stuff which Rockhold said took time away from their training

Not just for Rockhold but also because of the $$ and also because I think he has plans to retire. But I definitely think Rockhold was a factor in his decision.

Of course I have no proof for any of this, lol just my theory. Why would DC not mention Luke in his after fight speech if there weren’t issues?
I just don't see DC retiring right now, he seems to feel like he has something to prove. And Luke Rockhold is an absolutely intolerably smug prick. DC should use every interview as an opportunity to say "fuck that guy"

Cause leaving the camp for a couple fights is one thing but immediately fighting at LHW after leaving the camp would be insulting to AKA.

I admit I might be wrong about all of this

DC is going to HW to fight Cain. Cain was never his friend.

good question...but I doubt DC is moving up to suit Luke.

I think DC's move comes down to other factors:

- the cut to 205 kills him
- he has nothing left to accomplish at 205
- his legacy will be greatly enhanced with a HW title win
- Cain is not coming back anytime soon

even if DC beats Stipe and Cain does come back this year (and both are FAR from assured), there is no reason for Cain to immediately be in the title picture. He neither deserves an immediate shot nor would it be in his best interests...so DC may be ready to retire before it becomes an issue.

I think it really boils down to why should DC forgo legacy because Cain *might* challenge for the HW title at some undetermined time in the future?

Just so happy to hear this fight is happening. Its the only "superfight" that makes complete sense. I wanted this to happen, but did not think it would. I'll be a PPV buy for this one. Two of my favorite fighters.

I hate that shit where they won't fight their own teammates, it's bullshit and it's adding more useless reasons to fuck up a division.

Because DC knows that Luke HAS ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE while AJ is around. Luke would die at lhw.
