He should have just changed camps and stayed at HW. He didn't want to fight Cain but Cain has hardly fought for years. And if they did get matched up he should just have dealt with it, teammates get matched up often it's not uncommon at all and they cope with it.

DC has a harsh cut to get to 205 and although he is not a big HW he is a natural HW and I feel he is at his best there. Stronger, faster, more explosive, better cardio, more speed advantage, hit harder, more effective with his takedowns and clinch throws. He was unbeaten at HW and he was hardly even getting hit. HW is the big stage, with the big money and the big sponsorships and opportunities and recognition. I think DC made the wrong decision and it has ended up costing him.

DC gets wrecked by Werdum and Alister. Beating Josh was nice, but Josh is past his prime.

You do know he's the lhw champ with a defense right?

I dunno, in that Stikeforce HW tournament the way DC was wreaking everyone I wouldn't have been surprised if DC had won. Overeem pulled out so we never got to see it.

The big stage with big sponsorships, opportunities and recognition? LMAO are you joking? HWs don't draw, there's hardly ever a title fight & there could be a case made that it's the worst division in the UFC right now.

StrikeForce HW grand prix winner.
UFC LHW champion

Wasted career?

Better career than 99% of MMA fighter.

I think he has done well. I find him a bit annoying but he is a great fighter at either LHW or HW.

Problem for him is Werdum and Jones are terrible match ups for him

Do you see how much fat DC is packing? He can easily make LHW. He just needs to get his diet under control and lose some flubber.

Cormier didn't look good in either of his HW fights in UFC. Mir is so done, and all he could do to Mir was try and hold up against the fence

I think he matches up poorly with Alister. I actually put money on DC to beat Jones in the rematch (until it got canceled). I think he's a great fighter, near the top. Depending on the day maybe the best in the 205 division.

I think DC did well enough for himself. His weight cut to LHW may or may not be difficult, but he always seemed a tad undersized at HW, which was part of the reason he was being called "Black Fedor" for a little while. While size isn't everything (no pun intended), I think that had he stayed at HW, he would have eventually found himself outsized and overpowered (I can't say by whom exactly, just speculating).

yup losing 30 pounds of fat and igniting an epic rivalry against the #1 p4p fighter in the sport was the worst thing he could've done for his career

this thread reeks of creepy kikikikikhan fatman worship and/or Jones hate

No the thing he should have done is operate his ACL 2 or 3 years ago, I think he would have beaten Jones by now then.

This is pure speculation. In my opinion, DC has better boxing defense and striking variety than his stablemate Cain and what he lacks in size and power he makes up in technique and stamina. I doubt Werdum would be able to get him to the ground which would result in a striking matchup and while Cain trades on linear forward pressure, DC utilizes more angles and tempo shifts. My point is that you can't gauge how a DC Werdum fight would go based on Cain's performance against Werdum. As for an Overeem fight, I'd favor DC. Alistair has lethal knees and great power but he can be broken and DC's style is predicated on gradually breaking opponents.

Okay, your opinion have been noted. Have a nice day.

I actually think DC has a decent shot against Cain on a good night.

Cain's the heavier man, but that doesn't mean Corm couldn't gain a few pounds and work leverage on Cain the whole fight

Stuck standing though, he'd be hurting.

DC beat Bigfoot > overeem

Bigfoot was always inconsistent even on the testosterone. He was nearly knocked out by Mike Kyle, a journeyman fighter who (I believe..) washed out of Strikeforce.

He was/is a decent grappler given his size and awkward mobility, and he's strong (and huge) but he is often slow and slow to react (obviously much worse since his TRT was banned in competition). Overeem is still the better fighter.
