DAZN layoffs 2% of their global staff

Probably not running any events there for the next 6 months, makes some sense to reduce overhead but shitty if paying billions for bundesliga and trying to raise a billion for an IPO and then cutting staff

That's minor compared to what is likely coming. Unless they right that ship ASAP. Corona had to punish DAZN badly after those big contracts.

DAZN was more than likely operating in the red to begin with. I am sure they are getting DICKED financially due to the corona virus.

This isn't news. Do you know how many companies are laying off people due to the pandemic?? I'm currently worried about my own job at an engineering firm because our sales have dropped by 40% due to the virus. This is just the new normal. We are in the worst depression since the Great Depression.

According to this article between March and July 2020 there were 730,000 less people in work in the UK which was 2.5%. And certain employment has been hit harder than others. I was ok because in my role I could work from home but I know someone in low paid contract work who got furloughed whilst 40% of her colleagues got let go. That's because she worked at a service station, all of which shut in the pandemic.

I think once the furloutg scheme ends a lot of people will find themselves out of a job so those figures are going to get pretty nasty in october and november

Yeah I think you're right. It's not going to be a good Christmas for a lot of people. And then we have Brexit to look forward to after that.
