    Hey,
How many of you train in grappling for fun, vs. trying to become the next BJ Penn?

Despite wanting to become the next Rickson/BJ, i really dont think that is realistic for me as i have learned that i dont really have much natural talent.

I wonder how BJ did at his first tournament.

he won his weight class and the open

I'd love to just train BJJ and have no job/schooling but I've never been told I'm that good haha. So I train about 3-5days a week BJJ and 2days a week Muay Thai while working 32hrs a week in summer and working/going to college(community so I still train) in the spring/fall.

I am young, and would like to win a few big tournaments in the future. At the moment for fun though.

I'm a 34 yo mathematician. I have a day job, wife and daughter (hence the Hannah's Dad). Training 'cause I've always loved MA, been wanting to try BJJ and maybe some local competition.

I think most ppl under 23 expect to get somewhere with their training.

I train as a hobby... It would be nice being the next Marcelo or Jacare, but I know that's not going to happen.

I do hope to compete in local tournaments very soon.

I have no interest in competing in MMA or in BJJ. While I am a huge MMA fan, I am just currently looking at a few BJJ schools as I think it'll be a fun hobby to take up and help me stay in shape as i age...

I'm only 20 and just started BJJ and muay thai and hope to make something of my training eventually. BUT, I am not going to rely on that, so I am still going to school to become a teacher or zoologist. but making the big time and fighting for a living would be nice.

Good call. I'm 23 and definitely have some solid goals I would like/expect to meet in BJJ, and eventually MMA...right now I just train my ass off and compete as much as I can.

I honestly train only twice a month or so. I wish I could train more often, but work is always there. In fact, I'm at work right now.

I'm 40 and have trained in Bjj for 2 1/2 years with my 16 yr son.
I'm a Fireman and get to retire at 54 so at that time I would love to be a good BB and open my own Dojo just to have people to train with and spread the art with my son. That is my 14 year plan I would also love to see my boy compete at Abu dabi I would love that

I'm 28 and work a full time job
    I have a family
I also am taking classes to finish up my bachelors degree (finally close)
I teach a womens self defense class at the university in my city

I guess I'm not busy enough because I started training seriously in November of last year, and my training partners talked me into fighting (which really wasn't all that hard) and I did my first amature MMA fight earlier this month.

So now I have to add "amature fighter" to my list. There are a bunch of priorities ahead of it, but not so far ahead that I can't be in shape and bring it on fight night.

Sometimes, I wonder why I do shit.
