Darren Elkins is One of the Most Underrated Fighters in the UFC Currently

The simplest way to determine how underrated a fighter is is how many times he wins when he is an underdog/counted out. In his last three fights Elkins was supposed to be blown out of the water and he won with two of those by finishes. He was supposed to be Bektics breakout win and he face planted him, he was supposed to be a rebound win for Bermudez and he got the decision, and most recently he was supposed to be the start of Johnsons featherweight run but he spoiled the party and submitted him.

It honestly quite baffling that he's built up a six fight win streak after being in the UFC for so many years. I think he is no more than two fights away from a title shot and I wouldn't mind seeing him agaisnt a top 5 next, though there are many options for him. Edgar, KZ, and Jury make the lost sense right now.

Elkins has always been overlooked. Even if he wins two fights and gets the title, he'll still be one of the most underrated fighters out there.

I'm such a big fan, and I'm just waiting on that next fight announcement. I hope Elkins is able to fight someone ranked ahead of him. I'd like to see him get a main event vs. Edgar the most, but a Zombie-war with KZ would suffice.

Maybe, but not without good reason. He isn't exemplary in any facet. Yeah he's an above average wrestler, but you won't see him smother and dominate top talent. He can take an ass beating and complete improbable comebacks, credit to his character but there's a reason he gets beat up.

I give him a lot of credit and he's on quite an impressive streak right now so I'm not hating. Thems the facts.

A 5 fight and a 6 fight win streak...14-4 in the ufc.

He can undoubtly win his next 1 or 2 fights to get a title shot

I'm a fan of Elkins too and I think he deserves a fight against someone like Edgar, but I'm an even bigger fan of Edgar and I think that's a safe way for Edgar to get another top 10 win under his belt without taking too many shots on his chin.


I think Elkins vs. KZ would be a much funner fight.
