This is why I was holding out hope that haymon had a plan for putting on good fights on nbc I hope this happens
Damn, they're coming out swinging. This is great.
Fuckin hell. Way to go Haymon.
Way to go boxing, do it for the fans for once. Put on good competitive fights that the fans want to see, it's a simple concept.
That's a legit fight on cable. Putting it on NBC is fantastic.
This deal sort of sucks for showtime. I wonder if showtime will still carry boxing.
I have a feeling we get one card of good fights and then a card of shit to showcase prospects each month.
Hardly a great fight, two losers going at it, Garcias blossom has left since Hererra schooled him, and Peterson has been feeding on gimmes since Matthysse destroyed him, and he STILL holds that IBF doesn't he? How the fuck can he be called a champion of any kind? this is like a fight for 2nd place
Its an excellent matchup.
explain. I seem to remember people saying the same thing about Lucas/Lamont on this site, and when I said Lamont would get done in a few rounds, you guys said he stood a good chance!!!
Lamont is riding his luck
however...if by "excellent" you mean relatively speaking, then perhaps, because neither guy is top level
Matthysse was concerned about his mandatory status against Garcia, so the Peterson fight was at 141 instead of a title fight.
And don't forget when he caught on the drugs and still got to keep his title.
so, not only has a so called champion been KO'd with ease, this was after being caught on drugs. The IBF have no shame
Danny Garcia struggling with a guy like Herrera doesn't make him a shitty fighter.
Its a good style matchup and the champ of the division fighting a legitimate challenger with a tough style.
Oh snap! Great fight.
This is great stuff. Even if by year two haymon sh1ts the bed, i'll still take a few big shows on network tv. Much better than anyone anticipated.
I like it. I live in Canada, so anytime I wanted to watch a fight being broadcast on Showtime, I would have to subscribe to the superchannel network then cancel because there's no Showtime in Canada. I already have HBO, so I would love if all the big non-PPV fights were on HBO and NBC.
