meldonium
eastern euro special...
flew under the radar abit i guess?

That's stuff is basically the Eastern European EPO if I'm not mistaken

Was Meldonium not on the banned substance list? Seems like a legit drug, not sure how he got off the hook for it

Because they dont punish meldonium

Yes they do since this year. There has been a huge scandal with many top Russian athletes testing positive for it.

I wonder if the new owners will keep USADA. Business wise it's a bad move it's just a moral thing that made ZUFFA hire USADA

Maria Sharapova just got banned from playing Tennis for 2 years for meldonium

Is there less of a punishment for it in MMA?
Yes. It was only added to the WADA list in january and as far as i understand USADA has no set policy on it yet. Daniel got popped a few weeks before the fight and wasnt pulled. Its a new concept for all these anti-drug nazi's so they have to figure out what to do

No they dont. USADA isnt dealing with the whole olympic russian thing or Sharapova or whoever else. Meldonium was indeed banned in january by WADA but USADA has no set policy yet. Daniel here popped two weeks before the fight and wasnt pulled from the card.

No it is. USADA uses the WADA policy just like about any commision does.

"USADA is a fully compliant signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code and WADA international standards, considered the foundation of the strongest anti-doping programs globally."

They do follow the WADA list. But this whole meldonium thing isn't even done yet. USADA is actually testing and investigating the drug itself as we speak. There's still uncertainty that it is a performance enhancer, and they don't know how long the drug can be detected in your system. Therefore they can't even be sure that the athletes took the drug within the period it has been banned yet.

Once again, Daniel did NOT get suspended after popping so can you explain to me why this is, if you don't believe my factual information?

I don't know the details and I don't know when his test results came back and everything.

It doesn't matter if they are dbeates about the usefuleness. It is officially banned by WADA and Sharapova who is a bigger athlete than about any UFC fighter ever got suspended for 2 years for using it possibly ending her career.

The dozens of Russian athletes who failed test for meldonomium certainly seem tot hink that it enhances performance. And even if it doesn't DHEA what machida popped for is also uncertain to enhance perfomance as I'm sure other things on the WADA list are.

WADA also puts things on the dopign list that may enhance perfomance and once they do everything doesnt matter and every athlete that fails a test at a commision that follows WADA's standards (which is about 99.99999% of all commisions everywhere) will ban the athlete and then there's nothing the athlete can do even if in hindsight it turns out to not enhance performance.

if you test for it while it#s banned you get punished simple as that USADA can experiment all they want but it doesn't change anything for the athletes who test positive while it's banned

“USADA further informed UFC that due to recent WADA statements regarding the handling of Meldonium cases, they will not be issuing a provisional suspension to Omielanczuk at this time. Accordingly, Omielanczuk has not been removed from his scheduled bout against Alexy Oleinik in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on July 13, 2016.”

It's not that hard to understand mate. The drug has been banned for 6 months, they don't know if the drug stays in your system for a week or for a year yet. Thus they cannot determine if athletes took the drug prior to the banning. Thus, Daniel Omielanzcuk was not pulled off the card after he popped.

So Alexey fought a guy who was cheating? WTF
He fought a guy who tested positive for Meldonium shortly after it was banned, likely at a low enough level that he hadn't used it since the ban had come into place.

Yes if the levels are very low then athletes aren't banned at the moment. But I don't know for how much longer I think that period is almost over. If Omielanzuk had low enough levels to prove that he took it before it was banned then it explains why he's fine.
