Cormier's 2 most impressive wins at HW were against prime TRT Bigfoot & Josh Barnett. For those fights he weighed 247 & 238 respectively. Once he got to the UFC he was criticized by fans for lackluster performances vs Mir & Nelson where he weighed 235 & 224 respectively.

So if we rank his best wins at HW and his weight for each fight we develope a pattern:

1. Bigfoot- 247 lbs
2. Barnett- 238 lbs
3. Mir- 235 lbs
4. Nelson- 224 lbs

The pattern shows that the bigger D.C. is the better. He needs to stay on that chicken & cake diet, the science says.

None of these guys had the mobility of Stipe. If you’re short you better be quick. Short and slow is a disaster

DC looked HUGE in his Gus interview last month

not sure it's a good thing but we could see the heaviest version yet

He wont lose quickness with his thickness he will only gain more explosiveness. And his chin will be better

Depends on whether or not he plans on going back down to 205

If it is a permanent move, he could be coming in 240 250 solid

If he plans on going back down to defend 205, then perhaps 230ish

Being heavier as you get older is usually not a good idea. Speed, reaction time and conditioning are usually the first to go. I'd say 225 without his lhw weight cut vs stipe is ideal

Not all weight is the same. Cormier said he had to lose some muscle mass when he decided to transition from HW to LHW...those first fights in the UFC were actually in the midst of that deliberate reduction. He's not going to get his prime musculature back with a few months of Popeye's.

Hypothetically, if DC dieted and dropped to 10-12% body fat how do you all think he do against the top 5 at 185lbs?

Do you weigh lard in pounds or is it metric.
I need to know before I can determine his optimal weight.

short and having punching power with good defense is key.

btw if dc loses his speed and ability to react quickly, how does he compete with hw's?
would movement, cardio and wrestling suffice ? dc does not have KO power.

He shouldn't weigh more than 235. If he does he's TOO big for his frame and height.

he wouldnt make 185. His mid section is built as thick as it gets and unless he gets surgically reshaped (impossible) he will remain a small hw. His core strength is one of the reasons he is so good at what he does. And thats were core strength comes from.

Also he is getting old and only wants 1 or 2 more fights. Why would he goto 185?

I found LHW DC to be a waaay weaker version of his HW self

none of those guys can wrestle... or punch going backwards.. or lead effectively either.. man HW a couple years ago was a disaster so glad we have new prospects like Blaydes, Volkov, Lewis and even Francis is more talented than most HWs ever.
