Not bashing Cormier (he's at least top 5 in both HW and LHW, and likely higher in both), but Gus probably is a tougher fight for Jones. Jones biggest tool is being able to control the range that he fights at, and to use his reach effectively. He's brutal from the top with his elbows, but he doesn't need to go to the ground to beat most guys. Gus is one of the few fighters with enough reach and standup skills to prevent Jones for simply having his way with people. *IF* DC get a hold of Jones, he's in a world of trouble, but he has to get in there first, and giving up a foot of reach could make that very hard.

My take on this whole thing is that Jones is hoping a fight with DC will get him out of having to fight Gus all together. We already know from prior statements that Jones doesn't think its fair to have to fight both guys. Instead what Jones is hoping to do is fight DC first, hope to win, and use his status as top HW contender to move up to HW and go for a title run there. This way he gets to avoid having to fight Gus ever again.

DC damn near begged on National TV to fight Jon now he backs out .Jon is probably waiting on a big payout and his choice of venue to fight Gus .Going to Sweden to fight the challenger is dumb .Dana is trying to close the gap on the European market.Jon would rather make the fight in a Major City like Los Angeles ,Houston , Miami .
