Even Daniel Cormier thinks that Jones should fight Gus next.

Here's where DC said it:

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/daniel...y-part-of-alexander-gustafsson-054955541.html

"As the champion, it's his obligation to fight the guy they say is the top challenger, and right now, that is Alexander Gustafsson," Cormier said. "It's been strange. At the end of the day, he'll probably end up fighting Gustafsson again, but this isn't something he's volunteering for, I can tell you that."

Edit: Link is fixed.

Some more quotes from DC from the article:

"He had to reach so deep into his soul to win that last fight, I truly believe he doesn't want to fight Alex again," Cormier told Yahoo Sports. "Alex took him somewhere he'd never been before and he doesn't want to go there ever again."

"Everybody was screaming for the rematch after that fight with Alex and he said no, that he wanted to fight Glover," Cormier said. "Now, if he comes back and says essentially, 'I don't want this rematch,' how do you think that's going to come across? Once? OK. He said he wanted to fight Glover and everyone knows about Glover. But twice would be hard to understand. I honestly don't think Jon is afraid, but Alex pushed him to a point in that fight where I don't think he ever wants to go again.

"So obviously, this might benefit me in the long run. And if Jon really believes that I would be the tougher fight, then he would be doing it for the right reason. But if he is saying he wants to fight me because he believes I'd be an easier guy? Man, I don't know. That's not good."

Didn't Phil Davis say something similar also?

^^^ And only Jones knows why he's actually choosing Cormier. But it seems clear to me in the statement that Cormier is saying he's afraid "without saying it".

Daniel Cormier: "Gustafsson is the top challenger, and Jones wants no part of it."

Why did you put that in quote as if Cormier said that?

He never said "Jones wants no part of it."

Kevin Iole (Yahoo writer) wrote that.

This was Cormier's quote:

"He had to reach so deep into his soul to win that last fight, I truly believe he doesn't want to fight Alex again," Cormier told Yahoo Sports. "Alex took him somewhere he'd never been before and he doesn't want to go there ever again."

well according to most sherdoggers(Jones apologists) DC has no bearing in this situation and he does not know what jones thinks

i feel DC is on point
whatever the reason for Jones not agreeing to fight Gus, he should not be able to choose the time and opponent, he should conc more on his finances

DC should get his knee healed up if it's really that bad. JBJ will not target that knee for sure with those oblique kicks. He wouldn't dare crank it either if it went to the ground. :icon_chee Gus is ready, DC has time to look for more weaknesses in both Gus and JBJ.

Reread the quote I posted of Cormier. I basically paraphrased that paragraph where he called Gustafsson "the top challenger," and "it isn't something he's volunteering for."

My paraphrase basically says the exact thing he was expressing.

Yeah, but Phil is a teammate of Gus so you can't really give it much weight.

The worst part of all this is that I, like what I assume was many, gained a lot of respect for Jones after that fight. Then he opened his mouth about "This was the dogfight I was waiting for. They finally gave it to me." rather than just giving mad props to Gus. Then he ducked a rematch of the dogfight so he could beat up on Glover. Now he's ducking it again for Cormier. It's super disappointing, personally. Not sure if that's the same reason for others.

That's incredibly honest. He just as easily could've said "yeah I'm the tougher opponent and I deserve to fight him so Jon is right".

Respect.

He did a pretty good job of being honest without giving bulletin board material.

How is Bones scared? He didn't want the Machida rematch either. He simply wants to add more names to his list.

So what the fuck is up with all his bitching and begging on every Fox show then? How much did Dana pay him?
