Does he take us all for fools? What advertising agency would risk ruining their relationship with a client as big as the UFC and blow '$10m' in the process by refusing to reschedule a video shoot? Dana likes to remind us all how powerful he is by tackling the game's biggest star yet he can't handle an agency that would 100% say no problem Mr White, we will take that $10m in May? Utter nonsense.

What's surprising is how many people have switched to "Dana is the best, he can do no wrong" over the last 2 days.

Marketing doesn't matter to me but I trust the educated businessmen know a lot more then I do. They wouldn't waste money on something that doesn't make them money

Just a back handed way of informing Conor that since he decided to act like a spoiled brat that he is NOT fighting at 200. Conor made his bed. Now lie in it while watching 200 instead of headlining it.

How dare you.... take that back....... Dana White does not lie.......

If its a good marketing firm they are booked in advance and cant just move clients around at the whim of some whiny fighter.

I think it's more of the fact that Dana was telling the truth for once. A lot of people thought this was a money issue (Conor's demand for a pay rise rumors).

you clearly have no idea what you're talking about but that is what the internet is for

You don't see the forest. You don't know what all goes into the machine.

How much is lost by canceling a promotional event? What if he does it again? How much would that cost?

He isn't tackling Mcgregor. But the UFC is clearly letting him know that he works for them. The company will survive regardless of Mcgregor. Lesnar, GSP, Couture, Liddell all left and the company is still around and profitable.

It's all a ploy for more money and more negotiation power.

Its not 10 people, there are probably hundreds involved with the marketing. You can definitely move it, but it would change the budget drastically. And you would still have to pay for the things you booked for those days.

Well, it's all about what you're comparing him to... in McGregor's case...he makes Dana look better since he's such a whiny bitch.

Well when you have a schedule press event, and the biggest star on the bill doesnt show up because he's "training" what does that look like to you? The marketing in motion cannot be stopped, no one would attend the press event had they known McGregor wouldnt be there.

dana needs to have reasons why conor is holding up the process etc - he maybe needs to overinflate those to help his side of the story - not surprising at all - i lik ehow dana stayed very calm and was even complimentary of conor - its crucial for him to not look 'shook' etc.

its a usual pattern - people care about fighter pay until it holds up fights

TS doesn't take into account the reprecussions of letting Mcgregor get away with it. If he does it once he will do it twice.

And what happens next month when Werdum says I'm not showing up to the presser if I don't have 500 red M&Ms in my trailer?

Not to mention. The people that showed up to work still have to be paid. The venue that was rented needs to be paid. The vans and equipment costs money as well.

Do you have any opprobrium for Conor?

Don't be stupid. There are contracts and contract stipulations. Any ad agency big enough to work with the UFC is busy, probably has other big clients, and has time and deadline obligations to meet. You think they'd be able to reorganize their schedule so that Conor can make his special preparations to face "the heavier, longer, man"?

But most people were bitching about this rematch in the first place. About how it's disgrace that a non-title fight gets to headline UFC 200 and blah blah.

If the UFC actually gave 2 shits about UFC 200, they would have booked better fights in the first place.
The whole card is weak as hell, pointless rematch, pointless title defense, pointless interim belt, more then half the fighters on the card are coming off losses, completely not what anyone would expect for a milestone like their 200th PPV.
