FDNGTD probably a better bet than this dog though.
This is the only fight I taped, and I felt that Meeks wasn't very exciting at -300, as I capped him around -350 to -400. Him being -720 is a bit silly. Yeah, De Castro kind of sucks, but his striking is still light-years ahead of what Meeks showed, and Meeks' wrestling, like that of some other guys with Greco-Roman bases, is oddly disappointing.
He relies on a slow low single that he doesn't set up with anything. That definitely increases the chances he gets with something or that De Castro can at least briefly keep the fight standing.
Have no clue about De Castro's ground game, but he survived to decision in the amateurs against a couple of guys with respectable grappling bases, and might have improved in the years since. Is it that crazy to think that Meeks, who has been doing MMA for all of 18 months and hasn't learned very much in that time, gets caught coming in or fails to finish him and gets betrayed by cardio about 20-25% of the time? I don't think so.
Props to the people who got Meeks at -230 and for all of 3 minutes, -185, though. The latter is excellent value.
I like Pickett @ +275. Best dude Soriano's fought by a wide margin.
You're looking at -500 minimum.
I ended up freerolling Goldy as there's too many questions about her defensive grappling and these odds are way wide now. Probably add a few totals when they release but here's where I'm at as far as MLs go.
Pickett +330 $100
Loughnane +108 $540
Goldy $0 for $36
Robbins $0 for $218
Castro +675 $50
These free bets?
Naw, $450 Goldy -190 and $200 Robbins +335
Fight does not go distance props are out for DWTNCS, juiced lines for the fights expected to end ITD. I took some on Meeks/De Castro FDNGTD and Soriano/Pickett FDNGTD to win the $50 they allowed.
Well, -385 lasted 14 minutes...
Books scared of the over unders this time around huh? That was a big money maker last season for everyone.
Missed this amateur fight of Hannah Goldy the first time through tape because both fighters' names are spelled incorrectly. Shows some serious holes in Goldy's ground game and makes me think Kali is a real live dog here.
DEGEN TUESDAYS ARE BACK!!!!!!!
I was initially hesitant when I saw Goldy had a decision over Gillian Robertson, who's a pretty decent ground fighter. Watching the tape, Robertson kickboxed for most of 15 minutes and just tried a couple horribly-executed takedowns. I'm not convinced at all of how Goldy will do if she's on her back. Kali is crafty with subs and extremely persistent
I think that's why Goldy is so juiced. Gillian is a big name (compared to this level at least) and is a good grappler. But that Gillian in her debut looked nothing like what we have now. Goldy really didn't defend those well at all. She didn't get her hips back and was really leaning over just to push Gillian's head away. Goldy has had 2 years to improve, but I really didn't see much difference in her style from her early fights to her latest. Anything can happen here and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Kali just gets pieced up and can't work her game at all. But for +300 or so, Kali is definitely live.
Riding the dog train tonight... Pickett, Robbins, Algeo.
Man I really don't want to bet against Loughnane because I want him to get a contract. But +250 for Algeo is getting a little crazy. He absolutely has a chance here.
Contenders series blacked out on fight pass
Glad I stream everything
It's exclusive to ESPN+ now. They announced this a long time ago.
