To see to what extent UFC president Daner White despises CCC, let us compare his reactions to either dissenting or "retired" fighters as of late.

Jon Jones sits out

"Yeah, this isn't the first time I fight with Jon Jones. Every time we want to make a Jon Jones fight, I end up fighting Jon Jones. But we'll work it out as we always do. We'll see what happens"

Jorge Masvidal sits out

"Let me tell you something, Jorge Masvidal marches to the beat of his own drum. He's like the Diaz brothers, when he's ready to fight he'll let me know !"

Conor McGregor retires

"I still haven't talked to Conor yet so I don't know if he's serious about it.

Listen, with the amount of money this kid has, he never has to fight another day in his life, yet he still takes on the biggest challenges in the fight business. I'd like to see him fight the winner of Gaethje and Khabib. People accuse me that I have favoritism towards Conor McGregor. How can you NOT love Conor McGregor ?"

Amanda Nunes talks retirement

Let me tell you something, Amanda Nunes is the greatest female fighter of all time, and I was just talking to Hunter (Campbell) and Sean (Shelby) the other day how we want to build the 145 lbs division around her. She's one of my favorite human beings to work with.

Listen, when someone's time is up and it's time for them to retire, I'm the first one to tell them to hang it up, but Amanda Nunes still has so much to give. She's rich now and she can retire, but I'll definitely talk to her and see how we can get her back to fight"


Henry Cejudo retires

" Okay, great ! We're doing Yan vs. Aldo for the vacant title next month."
 
Thing is, CCC cucked him hard by retiring inside the octagon after getting everything he asked for. He isn’t asking anything else from Dana like some of the others (Jon, Conor, Mas want $$$).

Cejudo is actually OK with retiring so Dana can’t hold him by the balls, or entice him with anything, and he knows this. He’s also less of a draw compared to Conor, Mas or Jones.

But make no mistake, if he comes back for a big fight, they’re gonna give it to him anyway.
 
The first 3 are spite retirements used for leverage. They aren't really retired.

Amanda cause she he was going to build a new division, and her's was just a maybe, but he also said that if that's where her head really is, she should.

Cejudo is not doing it out of a place anger or ill will. I don't think Dana hates Cejudo at all. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall him badmouthing him once, or vice versa.

I think that the whole retirement thing by Cejudo was a bluff to get a better contract and more money, and Daner didn't bite.

During his "retirement" post-fight conference, he kept talking about if he got paid what he was worth, he'll come back for sure. And he's been calling out Volkanovski non-stop. What kind of "retiring" fighter talks comeback DURING his retirement conference ?

As a reaction, Dana White was like "good riddance", and out of spite scheduled a fight for Cejudo's title within one week, that would take place one month after Cejudo's retirement. That's a major fuck you to Cejudo, who thought he was worth more to the company.

It was a high stakes gamble from Cejudo's part, and Daner went all in and won the pot.
 
Cejudo has been telling Dana he’s retiring for a year .....accept Amanda The others were split second reactions because they didn’t get their own way ....

I can see what you mean, and Dana isn't afraid to strong arm him like that because he isn't as much of a draw anyway, and 135 is stacked.

He wouldn't strip Jones in the same manner so easily, CCC just isn't so big. But I also think CCC genuinely doesn't care. He can come back and get PPV points for challenging for a title anyway, any time he wants.

Worst case scenario, he gets the same pay, but not less, so there really isn't much to lose for him. He just gets to take an extended vacation, and then come back if he wants. Dana gets to keep his ego and strong image intact too by stripping him immediately, but it doesn't mean much in practical terms.

I had a weird dream I was a little kid at Disney World and I wrestled Henry Cejudo... it was weirder because he had Mickey Mouse ears on and everything... weird, but true.
 
Cejudo was Dana's baby boy before 249. I have zero doubt that Dana's fuming about the retirement though. When have we ever seen a prominent fighter removed from the roster and rankings so quickly after their octagon announcement? Gustafsson, nor Conor, were never met with such a response. I think it was a sulking move from Dana.
